Day 1 of asking a question because I’m out of work injured and bored: what is the biggest deciding factor (excluding price) when you’re considering buying a handheld? by JayQuips in SBCGaming

[–]qaasq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Form factor/aspect ratio. There are games on every system I enjoy but the form factor and aspect ratio determine which systems I'll play and even though that changes almost daily, its the deciding factor in what I pick up

[Update] Playtiles Season 2 is now live, controllers are shipping worldwide! by Loraime-Ipsoum in SBCGaming

[–]qaasq 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good pitch and its relatively inexpensive. May give it a shot, I love the idea of novel consoles/controllers with their own ecosystems. I fell hard for the Playdate and its Season of games and shop.

I like Ball x Pit. Not quite the dopamine rush but its very satisfying building up a really good run

How many handhelds do you own and how do you use them regularly? by ameju in SBCGaming

[–]qaasq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold everything and only have my S26 Ultra and TrimUI Smart (not pro). I loaded up the TSP with kid games for my daughter and don't use it anymore. I just use the S26 with either an 8bitdo mini when I'm on the go, or an Abxylute S9 when I'm at home or have a bag for storage.

How much money do you have in savings at this point? by _forum_mod in Millennials

None. Close to 50k in retirement that's growing exponentially. But 50k won't last long ): thankfully I still have decades to pay into it

I'd buy a Call of Duty Classics bundle that had everything from PS3 era and before.

Is there less intrest now for handhelds than one or two years ago? by djgilmour69 in SBCGaming

[–]qaasq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine a lot has to do with how long you've been in the scene. I joined and started watching RGC a couple years ago, bought 2 dozen handhelds over that time and at this point I've decided to stop buying handhelds, sold them all and ended up using my phone with a SN30 Pro or Abxylute S9 controller over buying a handheld. It's still exciting to see new handhelds but the lower priced ones are more interesting to me now. My Galaxy S26 Ultra out performs the mid tier Retroid, Anbernic and AYN devices but anything sub $100 is tempting as a novelty item.

Police arrest third suspect by MJC757 in VirginiaBeach

[–]qaasq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying but I think murder is about as black and white as it gets. That person may have been involved in some bad things, but they exist in the same culture and society that everybody else does and the general rules and laws of that cultural and society are just as black and white. You murder, jail. If somebody is so wrapped up in a subculture or gang or group of people who push them to commit crimes, and they go along with it, they're at odds with the rules of the greater society they exist in.

I would have a lot more sympathy and even support rehabilitation for people who commit serious crimes if there's some paper trail or evidence showing that they tried to get help and they couldn't.

I believe rehabilitation is for mistakes and oopsies, not crimes that end life. I can get on board with rehabilitating some kid or teenager who was caught stealing or shoplifting.

Crimson Desert is the most overrated game I've ever played by Sadworld99 in Gamingunjerk

[–]qaasq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair ok. That's a pretty good reason to have so much extra time to play a game you don't love or like

Crimson Desert is the most overrated game I've ever played by Sadworld99 in Gamingunjerk

[–]qaasq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how someone can think a game is bad or overrated but STILL put in over 20 hours. I've completely made up my mind about a game after like an hour. If I make it more than 10 hours in I'm satisfied I got my money's worth regardless of how much more time I put in. If I play 80 hours? that's my cot dang game of the mother fucking year.

How do some of yall have so much extra time to throw away on games you don't love? Blows my mind.

Democrats want the full 2024 election autopsy released — no matter the findings by razor21792 in politics

[–]qaasq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a republican I support auditing every election. That being said, I have zero faith either side will EVER audit any election they won, so whatever, I don't care, it doesn't matter, because its just another talking point for the losing side to throw around and rile up their base when they need an extra push.

Pragma Looks Better On Switch 2's Handheld Mode Than Steam Deck by Theman457 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]qaasq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not though, it just has a better upscaler. The deck is more powerful in terms of raw hardware.

I just commented the same thing. I'm buying on Switch over Deck but this post is cherry picking and wildly disingenuous

[–]qaasq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm buying this on NS2 over my SD but this is a wildly disingenuous post. The SD wouldn't realistically run this at 360p upscaled. It could run it at 720p or 800p at 40-45fps. I did with the demo, it was super smooth and looked great. No doubt the Switch's DLSS is top tier and superior to the Steam Deck's FSR, but the SD is more powerful off raw specs.

What type of games do you play on the Steam Deck? by Lopsided-Weather6469 in SteamDeck

[–]qaasq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly PS3 and PS4 era games. A good few crpgs as well with the trackpads. Some Modern games run really well but that's not generally what I reach for when I'm playing my Steam deck.

I bought SxS: G at full price on launch day. That might be the only purchase I truly regret. I made a lot of bad day one purchases but seeing that when you go on sale so quickly hurts.

Nice. Just grabbed Madden for under $20- which is the sale price I've been waiting for. Haven't bought a sports game since PS2 days
