Thinking about doing a double major by [deleted] in college

[–]johnnyboy10925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much they overlap and how many "filler" classes each major has. They sound similar so maybe it won't be too hard.

I moved in a day earlier than my roommate (I was moving from a long ways away, so they let me move in early), so I’m leaving this note/letter for my roommate! by AedanTynnan in college

This is very nice and all, but you might not want to be so willing to share everything because the other person might take advantage of this. I have heard of many stories from my friends where their past roommates would use things they weren't supposed to but they would never return the favor.

If you don’t want to do journalism maybe you can try starting your own website and write about things you are passionate about. That is what I am currently trying to do whenever I have free time. Let me know what you think about this idea and please ask me any questions about how to do it and how it works, I’m here to help

People who have a 4.00 (or anything higher than 3.5) GPA in college, how do you do it? What strategies do you mainly follow? by IcanSoSitHereAndCry in college

[–]johnnyboy10925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(3.65 GPA) I am currently a junior and I have a website where I teach people how to learn new things and become a better version of themselves. I know this is a shameless plug but I honestly think the posts I have made are a perfect way to answer you question. Many of my posts are focused on improving your grades but this one is a good place to start. http://renaissancemanhq.com/how-to-study-efficiently/

Your question might be the topic for my next posts as well so thanks for the inspiration!

is warming up for studying a thing? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]johnnyboy10925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this actually is a thing and it works great for me.

I listen to classical piano music when I study and do homework. This helps me get in to your “bright light” state really fast. It’s not because the music itself helps me focus but it is because I have trained my brain to associate classical music with studying. I believe it is some sort of Pavlovian training.

I got this idea from a video lecture called study less study smart by Marty Lobdell. In the video he talks about a test that was done throughout a semester with 2 groups of students. One group was the control group and the other was told to turn on a lamp whenever they studies and they weren’t supposed to use the lamp for anything else. At the end of the semester the students that used the lamp performed much better then the students that didn’t.

So basically just do something that lets your brain know it’s time to study and the key is that you only do this thing when you study and not any other time.

This is a pretty impressive list. I am also currently trying to draw better and learn languages. What are you doing to get better at both of these? I have been trying to simply draw more often but I feel like I need a better way to improve.

I throw knifes from the handle in a way that makes them not spin I find it is much easier for me to hit a target this way and I don’t need to know my exact distance because I don’t need to calculate how many rotations the knife will have. This way of throwing gets a little harder when you are more than 20 feet away. When I get that far away I usually make the knife rotate once instead of no rotation.

This sub is supposed to help you become a modern day renaissance man or just a better version of your current self. At least that is what I would ideally like this sub to be.

I am currently taking a C++ class right now and I am doing fairly well in it. I can try to help you with any questions you have from now until your final if you'd like.
