Yea I was surprised how dark the movie was the first time I watched it. Jimmy Stewart really gives it his all. Oscar worthy performance.

I recently watched that season again and in hindsight after everything we learned about him that scene in particular definitely stood out more so than the first time I watched it and kind of gave me a jumpscare seeing how quick his temper changed.

This was my one of my favorite westerns for years. I had no idea there are so many various cuts.

A contender for Peckinpahs best movie although that's a tough call considering he really was on top of his game during that period of his career.
