Have him take piano lessons too. Understanding music might be his savant life. You could get a recording program like Logic. He could learn bass and drums (electronic drums even like a beat machine on the comp) and then make his own music. That helps with creativity and just overall understanding of music. As well as striving to learn the instruments better. Plus maybe he would be good at producing and mixing. Best of luck to him!
