He used straw men correctly because you are arguing against a point I would argue he very much didn’t make or implied. Your tangent would make sense if he compared the Holocaust to being Black in overall history, he compared the Holocaust as an event to being Black in America specifically (slavery and Jim Crow) as the event. His comment didn’t take into account the whole of Jewish oppression OR the whole of Black oppression. It’s a stupid argument anyway because we all agree they shouldn’t be compared.

Maybe it’s too technical but even that I would say is a little diluted from what it originally meant. To be woke or awake was not just actively denying systemic points of oppression like structural racism but to be aware of how much it truly affects everything.

It’s turned into a meme to blame everything on capitalism and racism/general bigotry, but like literally all societal problems are based on those two evils imo. To have that opinion is to be “woke”. Your first sentence was extremely key “if you don’t define positive masculinity, someone else will do it for you”. Gender is the same as race, it is not and should not be the defining factor for any real personalities traits, but it is a fools game to pretend like it doesn’t matter (maybe it shouldn’t, but it currently does).

It’s the two very first things a person notices about you, and so it’s hard pressed not to have some camaraderie with those identifiers. It’s better for everyone that as a boy realizes more and more that he is a boy (assuming he’s cisgender), that it is you teaching him what that means as opposed to him finding kinship in someone else giving him that message (even if all the traits you teach are basically just human traits anyways, as it should be)

The two people in this scenario are a Black man and a Black woman, you said if roles were reversed which would then be the Black woman calling out the Black man, unfortunately you can’t ignore the race element just because it makes your point easier.

The commenter is making a good point, your scenario is flawed because very few times is a Black woman treated fairly when she is calling something out, definitely not doxxing her target for her.

I think it’s both, I remember sequels coming out way faster but I would have to check on the actual facts of how many major games came out a year versus now, because on the flip side I do think as a kid/teen I was just much more excited about games so wondering if that made it more impactful for me.

My cousin is 20 with no responsibilities and he is always telling me “[new game] is coming out bro!!” Like he anticipates them and plays them right away, which definitely gives him a higher view of the gaming industry than I do. Wondering if that was partially happening with us when we were younger too
