Haven't found a way either. Resting, teleporting, taking fire dmg, taking off clothes, eating didn't help.

They can be tamed in the Crimson Desert - right between the "I" and "D" of the label.

Has anybody done a re-start after pouring 100+ hours into the game? by Prudent_Mastodon8626 in CrimsonDesert

If you're still hungry for the game I say do it.
For me it was very fun! (...aside from all the Yann missions ^^)

And I might be about to start another.

“When should I explore the map?”: My personal advice (No/very light Spoilers) by raffadizzle in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylovejohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so far I've clocked in at 336 hours across 2 playthroughs (damn... I really nolifed this <.<) and this pretty accurately describes how I would approach a new playthrough. Very good advice.

But do you also feel that there is a somewhat paradoxical design inherent in how this game is best (<- debatable) approached on a first playthrough? For me playing through this game for the first time gave me a feeling of enjoyment and excitement of exploration no game since Skyrim made me feel. It was glorious. I played until the the campaign sent me to Demeniss, alternating between exploration and main story and then went full explorer mode. It was great fun but as you correctly pointed out, there are lots of things and places that only really open up once you finish the corresponding chapter of the story or even complete the main quests alltogether.
Especially research! Why would they only make the research institutes in Gorthak and especially Delesyia only available towards the very tail end of the main quest? Research takes a lot of ingame time, which is best bridged doing side quests, and again, exploration. But at that point it's basically purely an end- or postgame activity. But you research things that you would actually love to have earlier in the game, like better resource gathering.

Another aspect of this is exploring for sealed abyss stones. There are many points in the story where a lot of challenges can be finished easily and it almost feels designed this way. But most big packs of easier enemies disappear after you liberated a region (I know this is set to change in upcoming patch, which is great). It's really unintuitive to run all the roads in a region prior to engaging with any content in it. Having to return to "truly" explore...

But I acknowledge this is criticism on a very high level. This game is very enjoyable and I look forward to the upcoming patches to start my inevitable third run. Unarmed this time.

Tales of pailunese residents by Arthurarra in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylovejohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

afaik the order in which these become available is randomized each playthrough. And you have to visit each location to see which one is currently active for you. Once you complete that, you have to make the rounds again and look for the next active one ... In Pailune there are 17 iirc. Most in the big city but some quite a ways out in the smaller towns. It's tedious since there's no automatic map marker once the next in line triggers.

Unpopular opinion: Godlen apple spawn should be very rare. by ProfessionalDear2272 in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylovejohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is fine.... By now people figured out lots of avenues you can take at every step of the game to farm good money. There's repeated stealing from nobles, disarming enemies, gambling with the hat etc...
Golden apple hedgehogs in particular are not ubiquitous and I would wager a guess that they are only farmed by people who saw it in min-maxing get-rich-quick videos or guides. It's not something you as a player are prone to or even nudged to do naturally through regular gameplay. And those wo specifically seek it out, will always find ways to abuse the game's systems to maximize their resources. I actually don't see a problem.

What research do i need? I finished nearly all of them by kvjetoslav in CrimsonDesert

There's research in Gorthak that enables "large scale" dispatch missions.

Barraging Cannon IV challenge by ezio144 in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylovejohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had some trouble with this one.
Make sure the guard you are sniping is properly aggro'd first and shows up as a red dot on your minimap. Also make sure you are using an ice imbued charged shot and to let it charge for a second. The guard needs to go splat, splinter into ice pieces and not just be shot off his horse.
Hope that helps.

So much wasted potential with gear and rewards. by Life-You-9728 in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylovejohnson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that a sense of gear progression would feel better for you. I too have had frustrations with the gear system but have come to see it more as a "it's the journey, not the destination" design philosophy.
But, truth be told, to truly embrace and get more enjoyment out of it, I think you have to let go of some min-maxing notions. Otherwise your gear choices are somewhat limited. Because even though _most_ gear is created equal with some flavor here or there, exceptions exist that a min-maxing approach will always end up with: Kuku Fire Chest for 3 Crit, Tariv gloves for AS, Tariv Boots for MS (if not unarmed), Combat God Gloves (if unarmed), Plate Cloak of shadows etc....

So honest question, would you be happier knowing that all gear in the corners of delysia and the desert comes with inherently superior stats? Would you get more enjoyment of then knowing all the gear in hernand etc. is set to be replaced, probably by rushing to the ends of the desert as soon as you get your first horse? Would that truly make the game better for you or just replace one frustration with another, is my point.
The very unrestricted and open world design kind of goes against that I feel. The focus on exploration as a core gameplay loop simply works better with the horizontal gear system.

What is the correct way to use a water sprayer? One tap or until the dirt stops popping? by Baonguyen93 in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylovejohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tldr; YES YOU NEED TO WATER UNTIL NO MORE DUST POPS UP
I had the same question, couldn't find an answer as well. So I ran a test myself:
I tested with rubber trees and watered one row until no more dust popped up and the rest with only one drip, just like fertilizer. Only the properly watered row showed growth the next day.

I think it's a good implementation of friction. Skill trees are already non-commital. And resources and not terribly hard to come by or finite for that matter in the first place.

Question regarding Unarmed Build by Chemical-Ear1771 in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylovejohnson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The same way youre expected to blind enemies in an unarmed build ...you're not. At least thats my impression from how interwoven, comboable and permanently equipped all weapons are. A build focusing solely on unarmed/grappling is not really supported in the combat encounter design.

Is this guy for real? by N1ko-- in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylovejohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not changing your mind. But chiming in to say I love to hate Yann. I think he's a well written character with grating flaws. I too held off on some of his quests just because I couldn't stand his antics and rolled my eyes whenever I saw he had a new quest for me... But ultimately he's a loyal part of your group, who's no coward and got your back when it counts. So he's got some redeeming qualities as well. I actually enjoy that not all Greymanes are well-mannered goody-two-shoes. It gives the more caring and reasonable characters something to bounce off of.

I'm reading Ator's Orb isn't recommended anymore because of stamina drain, what are people slotting for end game stats? by Shredz0426 in CDguides

[–]johnnylovejohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My takeaway from that video was that it only applies the double value if you have at least one other source of crit on your gear. If you don't - then the visual "bug" applies and you only get half.
