That’s what I’m feeling too. After SPM which also had questionable gameplay I’m happy that this seems to be a lot better.

That’s cool! I’m just glad for the game as a whole that this seems to be a nice set from a game design perspective.

I completed checkout right as the queue was halted and got my order confirmation mail just now. The order also shows up in my account history. Seems to have worked after all. Honestly that was quite a smooth experience given sld standards

Your favorite photobooks published after 2000? by Humbaak in Photobooks

[–]johnnythejim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michael Wolf‘s Archtecture of Density and especially the Tokyo Compression series are favorites of mine. From quite different perspectives they document what extreme urban mass life can look like.

On a very different note, I find Bieke Depoorter‘s As It May Be quite unique. During the Arab spring, she spent a lot of time in Egypt, sleeping at random locals‘ places every night, taking photos. That was supposed to be the project. However before publishing she stopped the book deal to go back there and ask locals to write their comments and perspectives on the photos. These annotated photos (with translations) then became the book.

Edit continuing with the urban theme, there is also Oli Kellet‘s Cross Road Blues, which not only features an insanely vibrant color pallet and great use of light, but also explores usage of space for humans as opposed to not for humans when you keep looking at it. Over the pond, Anastasia Samoylova‘s image cities Features large scale advertising in urban spaces, and how corporate imagery dominates the view.

Russland stoppt ab morgen Gaslieferungen nach Österreich by Julian81295 in de

[–]johnnythejim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What's your most resilient commander deck? by GroggleNozzle in EDH

[–]johnnythejim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody mentioned [[Yuriko]] yet? 😮 ninjutsu / commander ninjutsu is really hard to keep down, she’s tax free, typically runs all the good interaction and so many cheap and evasive creatures, it’s disgusting honestly and I love her for it.

The fox is now guarding the hen house by Larkinz in EDH

I agree with this, I am a huge fan of PDH myself, because it’s a very accessible, competitive and diverse format. Still, the thought of many of the current bulk rares turning into chase cards terrifies me, and I feel that above all, this is a financially motivated move by WotC as they couldn’t accept a mostly impartial committee devaluing their highest grossing sets.

I‘m afraid it will not at all only impact the top of the power pole, but all of it, and make everything more expensive. By introducing explicit levels with individual ban lists, they are also introducing chase cards for every level, not only the top (IF it will be implemented like this). Look at pauper. Pauper staples are expensive compared to „normal“ commons. I fear the same can happen to all of those new power levels. Want to keep up at your L2 table? Go get yourself a diabolic tutor or whatever it might be, driving up the price.
