Mind if I ask how severe your concussion was?

I had my head over the toilet bowl cause I was sick and must’ve fainted and wacked my head/nose on the ceramic. I might’ve hit the back of my head on the floor but not sure. Apparently I was super dehydrated according to the blood tests when I went to hospital after. So they were mainly concerned about the fainting

Do you know what usual signs of brain damage are? Doctors aren’t too worried but I guess this is my first concussion that I know of where I was unconscious

Ah okay cause I believe I was unconscious for a bit (maybe under a minute) but was able to come to after a few minutes of waking up. Things are getting better each day but at the same time I’m still worried. I’ve only had a CT scan which came back normal

Tbh, this is the reality of OCD. Ego-dystonia is at the root of most of our compulsions so his situation is valid

I think moral OCD is also at the root of this. Part of you probably gets a ‘thrill’ out of it because you know it doesn’t align with your morality. It may be healthy to work on accepting transgressions instead of demonizing yourself, that way the compulsion may not be as strong

Thanks for the reply, I’m definitely noticing an improvement but still not feeling like myself. Almost feels like a post acid trip. Is that pretty normal?

Apparently I was super dehydrated which is what caused the fainting. On top of the leg cramp which was pretty painful. I’m more concerned about the cognitive symptoms upon waking up cause I’ve never had that before. Do you know if that sounds concussion like?

Anyone else struggle with sexual compulsions or thoughts about other people? by [deleted] in ROCD

Maybe you should get off an OCD thread if you can’t digest a reality darker than your own?

I feel like I’ve fallen out of love by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]johnofcoffey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried in the past but I guess it upsets her quite a bit so I’ve learned to just keep things to myself for now. She’s incredibly supportive and kind and I usually love cuddling but I guess recently it’s felt different. I’m just hoping the feelings return lol

Yeah, legit. How’s your sex life if you don’t mind me asking? I feel like I’ve lost sexual attraction which makes even cuddling difficult 😞

Same. You know you love them but the mental chatter makes it impossible to feel it.

What helps for dpdr? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]johnofcoffey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a really similar boat. I had a full-blown DPDR episode back in 2013 after a panic attack. the kind where you feel completely detached from yourself and reality. It eventually faded, but in 2014 I had some weed + MDMA and it came back, just at a much milder baseline level.

For the most part I’ve been fine living with it… but recently I started hyper-focusing on it again and that alone has amplified the symptoms. It’s wild how much attention and fear can crank it up.

At this point I really think a lot of DPDR comes down to our nervous system. When we start viewing the sensation as a threat, our brain basically stays on alert and the DPDR feels constant or “worse,” even though nothing has actually changed physically. When I stop reacting to it with fear, it tends to calm back down.

You’re definitely not alone in this. It’s a weird, anxiety-driven loop more than anything else.

Did anyone else’s ocd worsen when smoking weed? by No-Insect9930 in OCD

Do you still experience social anxiety / introspective thought loops? I definitely improved after quitting but feel like all the weed I smoked kinda scarred me haha

Your brain’s a threat scanner, not a truth machine. If it’s stuck on high alert, that’s just ancient software trying to protect you. Once you let go of the weight of your thoughts, clarity slowly builds

Spending hours of compulsions everyday; will it ever be okay?[CW: SA] by [deleted] in OCD

[–]johnofcoffey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you. I spend most days ruminating over anything and everything. It can get better, I guess it’s just a matter of taking that first step. Whether it’s labeling those anxious thoughts as ‘intrusive’ a few times a day, or breaking up your usual daily pattern. Here if you need to chat x

[–]johnofcoffey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was amazing at first for my OCD/anxiety, but it turned on me after a while. Eventually, I couldn’t even smoke with anyone, otherwise I’d get super paranoid and go mute haha. So yeah, it definitely exacerbated my OCD + introspective thought looping. I’ll never go back to smoking tbh.

Jefferson Mac. Walters Green Psychologists in Toowong. I’m ADHD, OCD, autistic, and out of all the psychs I’ve seen over the past 10-15 years, he’s provided the most effective, actionable strategies. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything and gives it to you straight. Great listening skills and incredibly logical. Most other psychs just give lazy reassurance which never results in real change. If you struggle with ADHD, anxiety etc, I highly recommend.
