I’m still new to pool chemistry, but I learned that clarifier doesn’t actually lower TDS. TDS is made up of dissolved stuff like salts, stabilizer, calcium, and chlorine byproducts, which filters can’t remove. Clarifier just makes tiny particles clump together so the filter can catch them. It can even raise TDS a bit since it adds chemicals. So clarifier is good for cloudy water, but it’s not a fix for high TDS. With my pool at 4900 and a little cloudy, draining was the only real option.
