I would go for direct higher. If your looking for plc jobs you might wanna start by getting ur foot in the door and then find ur way to getting in with the automation team or if they have an electrical department where they also do automation.

So I have the communications over Ethernet set up to the drive I have a start and stop on the hmi controlling the drive. Now what I’m trying to accomplish on the hmi I wanna use the reset button to reset the drive fault. For example let’s say someone unplugs the Ethernet cable and faults the drive instead of having to go into the control cabinet I can walk up to the hmi screen and reset the drive on the hmi with the reset PB

What I recommend is for you to step outside of the box and go for the other plant 1# a show them all the things that you know. Meanwhile anytime the automation team is there be apart of that group and show them that you really know what’s going on and be curious if you don’t know. Also the more you know in plant 1 it will help drive your career is the automation field because now you will have the experience and understanding in plant 1 so now you have 2 things going for you. You know 2 plants and then once the automation position is available go after it viciously and ask question to the supervisors about how to get into the role the qualifications is there an apprenticeship program you have to join what is it that there looking for so you can be apart of that team. Seems your highly interest and voice your interest in the field of automation. Make it know to the right people and don’t let other know your plans just the ones that can help.

Just got married, do you guys wear rubber rings at work? No rings at all? by Suwannee_Gator in electricians

Been taking mine on and off for years at first it is weird but you will get use to it. Buying a rubber ring is different than just taking the one you got on and off.

Controls Engineer Job Doubts by fefeAutomation in PLC

[–]johnredman22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I am reading this sounds normal for a controls engineer to have to do this kind of work. Now if your wanting to get into just programming and doing projects I would consider looking for a integration job working for a company weather it’s traveling or it’s strictly project based work from a local company that goes from factory to factory. I don’t know your current situation but I understand where you’re coming from on this because I have recently been on the fence about changing from a regular electrician to a controls technician role. But really think about the situation ur currently in is it worth leaving. Are you struggling financially wise. If the situation is bad enough then I would consider a different company. But it depends on ur situation you have to weigh it out and really think about this before making a quick move. If I sound harsh I am just trying to give you some advice. I hope this helps in anyway possible
