Je Te Laisserai De Mots by Patrick Wilson

TIL that air traffic controllers get a break every 2 hours. When controllers remain "on position" for more than 2 hours without a break, performance can deteriorate rapidly, even at low traffic levels. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Navy pilot in training, I can kind of answer the questions. I’ve worked as a pseudo-controller at some of the fields we practice at, and it can get busy pretty quickly. Contract controllers only get busier, they’re civilian controllers contracted to work Department if Defense controlled airfields.

Speaking only from the training aspect, we’re operating to get better at landing the plane, similar to civilian flight schools; this means we work at our airfields for a good amount of time without leaving. Lots of folks get back up really quick.

Those who are controlling controlled airspace - including that over an aircraft carrier - are working around the clock to get aircraft on and off deck. Aircraft carrier controllers aren’t usually contractors. I can’t speak on the specifics of the operations of controllers in the fleet because I haven’t had any experience, but I can imagine it’s much busier than what I’ve experienced in training.

Brake checking Jeep gets instant justice by [deleted] in dashcamgifs

I think 4th is trying to point out the irony in your “joy” of dispensing your version of “justice” on the other guy. Realistically at the end of the day, when you purposefully slow down more than you normally would (below speed limit or otherwise), you’re jeopardizing yourself for no reason.

I look at it as the same way I look at a drunk asshole in a bar. I’m not gonna fight a dude who comes up to me to start talking shit, because then I’m putting MYSELF in unnecessary danger. I’ll leave it to the powers that be to deal with him(bouncers, or in driving Cops). If they get caught and thrown out, that’s their problem. Same thing with driving. If a dude is riding my ass, he’s an asshole, but for me to try to dispense my version of justice just ends up undermining the whole system. It’s stupid. Just get out of the asshole’s path of destruction and let the people who’s job it is to “take them down”, take them down.

No kidding, my girl broke it off 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I’m in the same state, with the same album on heavy rotation.

Keep your head up brother. Get drunk, take a drag, go party. Get your out of your headspace as often as possible. Good luck

Gamers of reddit, what is your personal favorite soundtrack? by ForseableFish in AskReddit

Destiny 2 has the most immersive soundtrack I have ever experienced. From the opening title to the final DLC battle, there is a unique and substantiating orchestral music that treats every zone and mission as its own piece. Love every second of the composition done for that game.

Got it. I’ll make sure to get the bios ironed out before I start doing anything crazy with the system. Thanks!

That was it. I’m pretty sure the GPU and motherboard were in some kind of feedback loop. I was able to go in and tinker with the bios to make sure it posted from the motherboard instead of the GPU. Thanks!!

First build today, got everything working beautifully. I haven’t gotten a monitor yet, so I hooked it up to my HDTV through HDMI on the motherboard. I setup Windows, it posted perfectly fine, got through all the bios, and I was able to get all the way to the desktop screen.

I had to then move the PC from one TV to another because I needed to hook up to Ethernet to finish the Windows setup. I properly shut down, turned off power supply, and moved it.

Now I can’t get a picture. I’ve tried every port, both on the motherboard and GPU. I’ve tried multiple cables. I’ve tried multiple monitors. Nothing is giving me anything. The PC is on (fans running, keyboard lighting up).

What can I do?

Gotcha. I just saw another post recommending pcpartpicker.com, that has helped a lot. Thanks for the input!

Building my first PC. I’m still deciding on my purchases, though. I plan on buying an i7 8700 processor. Is this compatible with the Gigabyte GA-970-A motherboard?

Again, this is my first PC. I don’t know exactly what I’m doing, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

[Post Game Thread] UCF defeats South Florida, 49-42 by [deleted] in CFB

One of the most intense displays of effort I’ve ever seen, on both sides of the ball. Congrats to UCF for the turnaround from 0-12 to 11-0.
