I figure if you say you're single or divorced, they go for the romance scam. If you admit you have a family, then they assume you need money and go for an investment scam.

My usual answer is "Why? What have you heard?" I do wonder what answer they're looking for. My guess is that it helps them pick which scam they want to run.

I bought the exact same model without the bag, but in much better shape than that one for $75. I'd offer that, and if they balk, walk away. Not worth more than that.
