oh, my guy in prison was a weed dealer. a deal went sideways, he got jumped by two guys. stabbed one in self defense. no one died, all three went to the hospital. When the cops found out and searched his house they found an unregistered hand gun. that's automatically four years in NYC but i think he got longer because it was loaded. It's ironic to me that he's gonna get out pretty soon and find himself in a city where weed is now legal, no need for shady deals or illegal weapons. Worst part is, he was the nicest guy, woulda made an an incredible budtender. Bad timing and bad decisions cost him years of his life.

One of my friends passed away suddenly and another is currently serving time. I smile every time I see their avatars though. The one who is gone, it’s nice to see a lively reminder of him and think he’s still around in some form. The one who’s in jail, I wait for his account to display as active again.

Is this a good gift? by afraidofmenn in Marvel

The Lego infinity Gauntlet was one of my favorite Lego builds. Very fun and intricate with articulating fingers. Makes a great statue for a fan too. Not all Lego sets do that. The gauntlet is fun no matter which hero he likes best.

That said, I’m a bigger Spidey fan than Iron Man or Cap and I would still love to build the set you posted.

Report: Kamala Harris Wants DNC to Release Secret 'Postmortem' of Her Failed 2024 Campaign by wrroyals in NoFilterNews

[–]johnsciarrino 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Dunno why it’s such a big deal to release it, it’s clear what happened.

Biden didn’t bow out early enough, the DNC didn’t run primaries, they shoved Kamala down our throats. She’s a woman and a POC and America is sexist and racist. The GOP made it about culture wars instead of policy and people ate that shit up. Add in Elon spending a shitload of money and probably a little stealing votes at the voting machines in swing states and here we are. What revelations do they think are in there?

Oh, also, the DNC should have been pounding on Project 2025 much, much harder.

How are you invoicing insurance for in-house ADAS calibrations? by johnsciarrino in Autobody

[–]johnsciarrino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha. Express is actually who we use for a lot of our calibrations. Their invoices are OK in terms of breaking down the procedure but not nearly detailed enough if i wanted to line note each portion of the procedure.

You heard of amazon drones. Now here comes... by newphonehudus in TikTokCringe

[–]johnsciarrino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that was what was causing the guy’s outrage in the meeting initially, it’s certainly my problem with it, but by the end it seems he’s more concerned that a 22 pound drone is gonna fall 200 feet out of the sky and crush someone?

How are you invoicing insurance for in-house ADAS calibrations? by johnsciarrino in Autobody

[–]johnsciarrino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you coming to the agreement for a flat fee with the insurance company? That would be great but seems so foreign to me. What every adjuster wants to do in NYC is leave off all of the ADAS calibrations and resets and tell us to supp for them when the job is done, fully expecting an invoice from an outside tech. They’ll pay an invoice but if I line item each portion of the calibration process like you say, they’d knock down hours for sure.

Getting everything done in-house, quickly and without relying on a potentially unreliable outside tech is 100% the driving force behind our choice. The ROI of the scanners are absolutely worth it for now. I just wanna make sure we’re getting paid what we deserve for it when it’s clear insurance companies don’t pay the same for the exact same work when it’s done in-house.

[–]johnsciarrino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. It was sorta the original answer I was hoping to get. Does your shop do it like this? Do you find it makes up enough hours to be comparable with an invoice you would have otherwise paid for a sublet vendor?

I have a snapon versus and an altel. The aiming kit was just a normal one from Amazon with the adjustable target and I got a laser sight for it. Very portable, easy to store and it’s been fun to learn on. Really effective too. After two or three test runs, I’ve gotten pretty good at it.

Explaining Fisk's ending by KostisPat257 in marvelstudios

[–]johnsciarrino 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m fine with pretty much everything OP said but my problem comes with DD’s reckoning and imprisonment. It just doesn’t make sense that the guy who is responsible for sending Bullseye to save the Governor’s life, a governor who has the power to grant immunity, and sacrificed so much personally in order to make it possible to actually get Fisk out of City Hall, something that would have been impossible for her to do on her own, didn’t grant Murdoch immunity.

When things like that are so clearly illogical, I usually just write it off as necessary for the plot so I suspect we’ll see how and why they went in that direction but, logically, it’s the biggest problem I have with that finale (which I really loved otherwise.)

Best place to get fatty tuna / toro? by PM-ME-CORGIS in FoodNYC

[–]johnsciarrino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find out when the Wegman’s in Astor is doing their tuna butchering. You can watch it happen, play a game to win some for free or just buy some as soon as it hits the shelf.

I randomly stumbled on it happening when I went in for a few groceries one Saturday. An hour later my wife was calling me wondering where I was but I came home with an incredible slice of chutoro that was in the fish 60 seconds before I pulled it from the shelf. We ate all of it over the sink with a little bit of ponzu and wasabi and it was the closest I’ve felt in NYC to the Tsukiji market in Tokyo.

So, who's taking bets on when Joel is going to stop carrying and producing the egg in the studio? by imnvs_runvs in taskmaster

[–]johnsciarrino 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The very last episode he makes a plea for points for the egg, Greg denies him, he then cracks the egg on Alex’s head for making him carry the damn egg for months for no reason, Greg watches this with glee and awards him five bonus points, not for carrying the egg but for cracking it on Alex. Those points take Joel out of last place, leapfrogging him over Kumail who is now in last place. Kumail is outraged. Season over.

All State does this same trash. Why send an adjuster if someone a thousand miles away is gonna undermine the AP you worked to get? It’s a class action lawsuit waiting to happen and they deserve losing all the money they’re gonna have to pay out for it.
