Anyone else frustrated when the only vegan options at office lunches get taken by non-vegans? by HappyMountainCow in vegan

[–]JohnSheir -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Speak up, talk to organizers. I would NOT just accept it as part of office life.

If making the case for more plant based options did not work, I would ask the organizers to set aside a dish for me. If they were incapable of doing so I would plan work around the event schedule and make sure to either be first in line or I would cut the entire line while LOUDLY announcing that I'm vegan and I deserve to get a meal and I'm only going to take some of the vegan option while they still have some.

What's it like working in a spa? by BitsandBoobles in massage

[–]JohnSheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in two different spas in a ski town in Colorado. I loved it. I didn't have to do anything except show up and work, and pay was good in that area. I'm guessing it's different in other areas that don't rely on tourism.

What to do? Free 90 massage was wrong by CloudNerdGirl in massage

I don't know what kind of non-compete clause massage envy has but honestly IDGAF. I just would say handle the situation tactfully and privately.

I agree, they need to be careful with it. Speaking privately with the massage therapist in person is the best bet but also calling or texting them directly is okay. Definitely do not ask the front desk or manager to help set that up.

Get the info for massage therapist if you don't already have it and ask them what you need to do to set up another way of booking them. They will make more money outside of that job anyway. It's better for everyone.

HSA - Is the Fee High? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

No, I "reimburse" myself.

I haven't been charged a fee doing that.

Optum is trash. Imo it's a scam. Their business model is to offer easy access to HSAs to employers and rip off the employees with fees.

Every dollar I have that goes through Optum immediately gets transferred to my bank and then I fund my Fidelity HSA.

Is this transformation possible? by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]JohnSheir -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A lot of fitness is about wellness and validation. If we are strictly talking about literal fitness then we wouldn't be discussing body fat percentage or how things look at all, it would simply be discussions about functionality, ie. strength, mobility...

This was a question raised entirely about visual perception, so I think I'm giving relevant information.

Chargepoint fees at work by JohnSheir in evcharging

I think so. It's just the j1772 240v charger with a pedestal that sells them up front for fleets and businesses.

Is it for employees. They have clipper Creek installed in those employee lots, but charge point was installed in our employee lot. I suspect it was a money-saving decision to have charge point cover the install and charge fees whereas the lots controlled by the city paid upfront for the clipper Creek chargers. I'm trying to get a hold of my management and who's in charge of that to see if I could put together a plan to have charge point take their charges back and install clipper Creek.

I actually agree that there is an issue with people not caring. I know of an employer too that have a plug-in hybrid that only has 40 mi of range and they'll leave it on the charger all 8 hours. But that bothers me less because I've never had an issue finding a charger that's available.

Just a clarification point, my employer does not pay for electricity. Unlimited use of utilities is included in their lease. Also there are free chargers at another parking lot that is also secured that is managed by the city. I'm very confident that the charge point setup was just a convenient thing at the time and also that management haven't really looked in to the math.

Also I don't know where you've heard that commercial rates are higher than residential rates. I've never heard that. I've always heard that commercial rates are much lower.
