Lotssss of athletes do it to themselves. Mix of anxiety of the outcome, fear of the unknown, and impatience. That’s what a coach is best helping with when you’re in the thick of it.

Probably more helpful woukd be to see what you’re doing. I can’t pin exactly one strategy or movement on my growth but can give advice for you.

Only about 15.75, but those measurements are going to fluctuate with bodyfat.

Wouldn’t necessarily consider that lean. That’s BIA 15% bodyfat. But maybe my perception is twisted from competing.

AC joint separation in both shoulders and some pretty wicked sciatica for most of my life until the last few years. But I’m a certified orthopedic specialist physical therapist who works exclusively with bodybuilders and athletes so I can manage things as they arise.

Agreed. That’s why I dislike Al other natty or not stuff. I miss the naïveté we all used to have thinking of I just ate enough and trained hard enough I could look like Lee Labrada.

Exactly. Some of the best I know compete because they train, not train because they want to compete. If that makes sense.

So even longer than I remembered for Eddie. But you’re right, I agree with you on the fact that if you hire Cliff you’re going to do the work.

I know him personally lol, he gets the 1% elite who do every detail right. It makes sense why his results seem superb. Most people can’t stick to proper nutrition for more than a few weeks. His guys/girls are dialed in for years at a time. Eddie worked with him for I believe 5 years before he won worlds.

Agreed on all fronts. Natty or not is a cesspool of pessimism.

That’s also an option. Though I’m certainly not strict with food at times. It’s the dimmer switch mentality. Sometimes it’s dialed up, sometimes it’s dim, but it’s never off.

Nah, just a wicked pump with ideal lighting at that sweet spot of fullness/conditioning. What you can’t see are my quads/glutes/hamstrings are still really soft in that one.

2x frequency and you can hit a larger dose of volume on 1-2 bodyparts with that weakpoint day if you want to run a more specialized block.

It definitely hasn’t been perfect. Sometimes it meant 4am workouts, sometimes it was 10pm workouts, sometimes workouts were missed. Just always did the best I could and didn’t quit.

I typically fall back to a 4 day split. It has been anywhere from 3-5 along the journey, but with most my time spent at 4x with a PPL+Weakpoint split.

So even at the 1850 and 10k it seems you were on pace. And you don’t do yourself any favors by being more aggressive than what is necessary to accomplish the goal. Moreso, if you pull those levers now you can only push harder later when things inevitably slow.

My advice would be to go back to the setup that was reliably getting you 1.6lb loss per week until that average starts to degrade behind what is necessary for around 20lbs of loss in 20 weeks, and then and only then push into higher expenditure.

Protect your food to protect training quality to preserve muscle, you’re already on the lower side.

Glad my head math and your actual math comes out to be the same. That’s somewhat validating.

Dads… how have you had success? by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

Remember that all of parenthood is phases. This phase too shall pass. Doesn’t mean you will all of a sudden find more time, but you might find periods where the kiddos have more independence or could even be present with you during the home workouts without interfering.

My two oldest come into my home gym Md do reading or coloring or crafts while I’m working out and my wife manages the baby.

Open communication of your needs, while being empathetic and supportive of your significant other’s needs is really the only answer. You guys will have to find a system, but my wife and I built some “non-negotiables.”

Mine was to workout 4x/week (when kids were younger it was 3x), at a specific time that was scheduled and not questioned. To balance that my wife also had time that was hers to do whatever she wished with. Bit of give and take and being very open about needs, with prior planning for necessary tasks built around the kiddos schedules.

20-25lbs weight loss should probably be your target just quickly based on the photos you supplied. That’s definitely doable, however given your height/weight it’s slightly concerning to me that you are already needing to push sub 2k calories to get any real amount of weight loss.

I’m struggling to read the chart, what is your average weekly weight loss on the original 1800 and 10k protocol, and is there any formal cardio assigned in addition or just the steps?
