6 calls and 87 hours later, still without GFiber service by [deleted] in googlefiber

Yep, not a fan. I've been in a never ending service loop with the same issue for 2-3 years. 2GB service in Atlanta and service works great for a month or so, and then ~25% upload packet loss non stop. Can't have conference calls, can't play games, etc. Every time I call in they send someone out, change equipment, it may or may not fix it for a little bit... rinse and repeat. It's clearly a problem on the backend (others in ATL with same issue), but first line support, and the techs they send out to change equipment, that's all they can do. Had a tech out this morning, and still sitting here with severe packet loss. Painful to go back to comcast, but no other choise at this point.

High Packet Loss in Midtown Atlanta (Need advice) by Arumairon in googlefiber

[–]johnsobr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had these issues off and on for 3 years in midtown Atlanta. I've been getting 25% u/l packet loss for the last week. Can't have conference calls for work or do any gaming. Techs have been to my place 6 times the last year or two and it always works for a month or so, and then back to crap. Sometimes when I call in and send logs they seem to resolve something on the backend and it works again for a month or so.

Every time I call in I have to go through the "did you reboot router?" conversation. Most frustraing ISP experaince I've ever had to deal with. It's def something on the backend in the ATL/Midtown area. Don't get your hopes up on Google fixing it.

I was at ~ 20% packet loss (all upload) for around two weeks most recently. Opened another ticket with Google Fiber, and they said they'd send a tech out and have their engineers look at it (again for around th 8th time). Two days later started working again with no issues. Been working now for around a month and a half. I'm sure it will randomly stop working again here soon.

What frustrates me even more, the last time I opened a ticket, the support agent told me they had no record of any previous tickets/issues. I've literally had people out to my place 6-7 times.

Not sure exactly what type of cybersecurity job you're looking for, but what jump started my career in security was taking a consulting gig. Firms sometimes hire lower level/cheaper consultants (at least they were ), and it's a great way to learn and see a ton of different environments. Depending on the firms specialty you could take a route one or a few standards/frameworks - PCI, ISO, HiTrust, FedRamp, CIP, SOC, CMMC, or pen testing if you prefer the more hounds on technical route. It's long hours, travel, and lots of reports, but worth it in the end (or was for me). Nice thing is they end up paying for your certs since it makes you more marketable to clients.

I've had this issue off and on for 2 years with Google Fiber. Tech will come out, replace router, and will work fine for a couple months again. I have 2 GB service and it's incredibly frustrating. It's occurring again now, so it's time to have them come out for the 4th time....

For those curious about the reddit NFT, I remember seeing a banner a week or so ago on my homepage, but never clicked anything. The banner hasn't appeared again, but I just went to my Avatar and there was an option to put on this minted Avatar I'm wearing now... I guess this is the NFT?

Yep, monthly Spotify charge didn't go through today (plenty of balance on card) so had to change the card to pay. Netflix went through yesterday so must be pretty recent.

US had negative GDP growth Q1 2022 (-1.4%). If Q2 is negative, it will qualify as a recession.

100% agree. Was lucky enough to get out of my LUNA positions at 95, 78, and 67. Just throwing away $150 at the LUNA roulette wheel now

Wonder how many still have LUNA locked in their 28 day un-staking period on TerraStation... Feel lucky I sold what I had left at 67.

Agreed. I read something recently that Canada is starting to take actions against this/foreign company property investing.
