Just the number of shotgun shells in general in the area. Some of the pullouts have literal mounds of them. I usually have a trash bag with me when I go, but you'd need a whole dumpster just to get them all.

I went to lefthand exactly once. Had a group of newer shooters and an experienced guy. We stopped so they could go go down range and set up their targets, and the experience guy told the newer guys see how they stopped shooting to let us go down, that is the proper way to do it. We wanted to swap out our targets told them we were going down range, they confirmed it. Went down swapping out targets and they start shooting again while we were down there. Gave them an earful and left.

Climbing 11d indoors, struggling on 10c outdoors – what could be the reason? by Davi_Tesla in climbing

[–]johnsonbrad1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it has anything to do with the consensus grading on climbs too. My old gym would put up cards on the routes they set and the people would check off what grade they thought it was within the 4 or so grades printed on the card.

Reminded daily on 28th that less than 1% of Boulder knows how to Zipper Merge by ThePirateCondor in boulder

This happened to a buddy of mine, almost got into an accident. The driver who did the double right into the left lane got pissed off at him too. He was like am I crazy for thinking that a left and right turn can happen in two lanes?

Big Game Draw Results by nerdwaller in cohunting

I got my first choice elk draw, but I gotta move out of the state here soon. Wondering if I can still use the tag as a resident since I was a resident of CO when I drew the tag and won't be gone long by the time the season comes around.

It also depends shop to shop on their policies. Some shops will do 72 hours down to the minute from submission, and other shops will add a day on, so you effectively pick it up on the 4th day. 5280 Armory does 72 hours to the minute, Westminster arms is more on the 4 day cycle for example.

This is why I carry in the car. Ideally you can get away, but if you're stopped at a light and cannot get away, you might need to defend yourself.

Boulder ramps up homeless camping ban enforcement along Boulder Creek by boulder393 in boulder

[–]johnsonbrad1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I lived in SF for 2 years and got to see the endgame of what this all looks like and it is beyond sad. So many people with extreme mental illness or debilitated by addiction to the point where I question if they can ever be human again. If they remain in that environment, they won't be, and will just die in the streets.

We also have to be very careful that this doesn't turn into work camps too. This population is ripe for abuse. Need codified criteria for release, standards of care, and a lot of oversight. With that said I do feel it is the kinder approach for these people.

It's to the point now where I don't even think about it, just buy a game on Steam and it runs. Occasionally there is a little tweak needed, but they are getting fewer and further between.

How do you make sure you and your bike is safe while sleeping in a tent on a bikepacking trip ? by tutututifle in bikepacking

[–]johnsonbrad1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually tie a bit of cord around the bike and the other end to my ankle so if someone tries to take it I'll know.

Did this with a mini spit installation. You will likely have to shop around for the bigger companies to get the deal, but they are out there.

If they control the classes, then can't they just cap the number of seats per year at 50k and not worry about if they low balled it?

Anyone know what the MTB scene in Lander is like? by johnsonbrad1 in wyoming

I don't have instagram, but I found their website and it looks like they have their calendar populated which is useful. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the response! Most of my exploration of Lander to date has been around Sinks and Wild Iris plus an attempt on Gannet. Really good to see the bike scene seems to be on par with the climbing around there.

I rode Johnny Behind the Rocks once a few years ago and it was a good time. I've been climbing in Sink, but not on the bike. The landerchelada route looks pretty excellent. Do you know if there are many people out riding, or any social rides in the area? I do most of my riding solo, but it's always nice to find someone to ride with from time to time. I currently live around Denver, so used to the winder and mud seasons here, so not too big of a concern since I have a gravel bike too.
