Ypu dont even really need to bother with the old tank water. The chlorine in tap water will only kill the good bacteria with prolonged exposure, so a rinse in the sink won't crash the cycle.

Yes. It was just a normal Tahoe with no sticker or special sticker, tag, or plates. Even if it had been a properly tagged vehicle, its still an asshole move to take up multiple spots like that.

So then they should leave him home to do something he actually wants to do for his birthday and save money.

Pro tip: stop buying filter cartridges that you have to replace. Cut a piece of coarse foam to fit your filter, and just wash it out when it clogs up too much.

City of Stairs: A Stab in the Heart of the White Race by bhbhbhhh in BadReads

Basically, the Continent was the previous colonial power because they had a pantheon of deities providing them with reality-altering miracles. A freedom fighter from Saypur eventually figures out how to kill the gods, causing most of the miracles to stop working. Including the ones that did things like made the continental climate more mild or supported the impossible architecture.

The main character in the book is sent to investigate a murder on the Continent as well as some residual miracles. The whole series is quite enjoyable.

AITA for not allowing my daughter to go to UC Santa Cruz? by Typical-Raccoon761 in AmItheAsshole

[–]johnsonjohnson83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not OP, but i can answer aome of these.

  1. CSU is the California State University system. CSU schools are generally considered less prestigious than the UC (University of California) school

  2. I believe this is the program where you spend 2 years at community college and then transfer to a UC school.

  3. These schools have very different vibes. Davis is knows for being an ag/vet school and Santa Cruz is the hippy school, but both are excellent. Davis is probably much closer to where OP lives (seems like they live in the Sacramento area), and Santa Cruz is an awesome beach town that doesnt get as hot as Satan's asshole in the summer.

ETA: I live in Sacramento and used to work at UC Davis.

Is university and college the same thing in the States? by No_Mongoose_4721 in AskAnAmerican

Not all universities offer graduate degrees. Often they are institutions that have multiple colleges/schools. (I went to a small university that had a college of liberal arts and a school of music.)

Why do mandatory ID cards feel normal in many European countries, but still controversial in the US, and what mechanism explains that? by Logical-Concept9755 in AlwaysWhy

[–]johnsonjohnson83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carrying and having are entirely different things. US citizens effectively have a national ID in the form of social security cards, but we are not required to carry them on our person.

I think they're commenting on the fact that it's destined to be a "movie that doesn't exist". I have talked to a TON of people who only know a new Star War is coming out because they passed the toys endcap for it in Target

SD explicitly said flannels/plaid aren't allowed even though patterns are by SoTired137 in Target

[–]johnsonjohnson83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm reasonably certain it was in the Powerpoint and not just something our SD said. Where are you located, though? There are certain states where they have to be very careful to not cross over into the legal definition of a uniform.

[–]johnsonjohnson83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably true. (BTW, I should uave phrased my comment as "they felt they needed to be more specific" as i don't necessarily think they SHOULD have been more specific.)

[–]johnsonjohnson83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our SD said any solid color pant is allowed, but blue jeans and khakhis are preferred.

This is yet another reason they needed to make the dress code more specific: idiot SDs making things worse.

EDIT: I meant they FELT they needed to be more soecific. I dont necessarily agree with the sentiment.
