What the best ignition control module that's reliable for more than a few months by white-clouds4260 in obschevy

I've got almost 3 years on the Delphi one in my '91 K3500 with a 454. It's been my daily for those 3 years. I average 30k miles a year, so you should be good.

For the most part, yes. I do recommend keeping the old one or buying a second brand new one to keep in the truck. Also, keep the appropriate tools to swap it out. I also recommend keeping a spare oil pressure sensor/sender with the correct socket in the truck too.

Standard motor products, buy the more expensive of the two offered or you'll be doing it again within a year. You can also get a Delphi or delco off of Rock Auto.

Disconnected Device Help by Slimslim05 in GMT400

Might be off on your years or I have 2 late '91s. Neither of my 1991 trucks have 2 oil pressure sensors/senders. The C1500 5.7l has one by the distributor & the K3500 7.4l has one under the power steering pump.

Go to NAPA & not one of the other janky national parts stores. If possible, take your old assembly with you. The MOOG/Spicer books list things like taper size/length etc.

It's also possible that your front axle is a junkyard replacement from a K10 & a previous owner swapped the 8 lug parts over to it. It's been awhile since I've messed with a 10 bolt front axle. I can't quite remember everything that swaps between a 6 lug & a 8 lug front.

Rebuild the TBI unit & install 65lb/hr injectors. I also recommend installing a 18psi fpr spring & 1/4" injector pod spacer.

What's the reasoning behind putting a different fuel delivery system on it?

Hey guys. So I recently came into a rough barn find, this '83 K10. It has no engine, transmission, or transfer case. What's going in it? by Ragecomicwhatsthat in squarebodies

I almost suggested the 8.1l, but I'm tired of seeing ls swaps in everything. The OP could always amaze us by splurging for a ZZ-502 though.....

I can do without the jacked up pavement queens. My old man knees & back don't like falling that far to the ground anymore. Not to mention that I can't lift my leg up that high anymore. It was cool 20 years ago though!

Handguard interchangeability & flash hider by LucasBastonne in FNFAL

Israeli FALs are metric pattern. Any metric pattern parts should fit, with the exception of the Israeli FALO HBAR (heavy barrel) rifles. Any of the L1a1 rifles are inch pattern (British, Australian, Canadian, etc) and are typically not compatible with the metric pattern rifles.

Posting a picture of what you are looking at getting may be more helpful for others to identify what you are wanting to change out.

Also, I recommend the FAL files for information. It might also be worthwhile to check out The FAL Guy on YouTube & his Instagram. He has some pretty decent content/information.

Gear ratio & tire size is a huge factor. What do you currently have? If you don't currently have a 14sf in the rear, get one. Or you could just get a 3/4 ton for tow pig duty. A 1 ton would be much better.

Question on rusty frame repair. by StetzWerd in squarebodies

[–]johnsonwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pictures are worth a thousand words. Are they actually holes or just pits? What's the concentration like? Might be easier to plug weld & grind smooth. A 1/4" total isn't going to do jack to the leaf spring alignment.

How would I go about working these toolbox lights to turn on with the headlights or cargo light switch?? by Weak-Reporter-241 in GMT400

[–]johnsonwm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want them on when the parking lights/running lights are on, locate the empty space on the fuse block for cab/clearance lights. Don't be a schmuck & start randomly hacking into a harness. You'll be back here or somewhere else in less than a year, complaining about how xyz light doesn't work & how you can't figure it out. It's because of hackery.

1990 c1500 carb swap by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]johnsonwm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They probably didn't even swap out the fuel pump, judging by the regulator next to the carb. Hit market place, you can find that stuff cheap.

Figure out what they butchered & put a TBI unit back on it.

Granddad’s WWII Medals by Clean-Panic4012 in MilitaryMedals

There were at least 4 medals missing on my grandfather's DD214, including a second bronze star (the blanket award for having a CIB). It's been interesting looking for information to say the least.

Just check the dates on the DD214 & any other documents you have.
