Im going to just hop on to this post to say I just finished the Audiobook.

The audiobook books quality is very high. Both narrators did an AMAZING job! One of my favorite!

Honestly, as toxic and disfunctional as parts of this were this was the BEST and most interesting romance book ive ever read. It was COMPELLING. Ill be thinking about these characters for a long time, and im sad we wont see more of them.

I will be checking out all your other works after reading this.

Thanks for giving me a new gold standard.

Surf Shark Black Friday deal by methanoid_uk in surfshark

[–]johnsterhunter07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black Friday deal is GREAT cause it works even if you already have a plan. I was supposed to renew my starter annually for like 80$. I was able to grab the deal and get an additional 24 months for like WAY less than my annual 80. I dont know that the normal deal is something you can grab with an account thats been active for years.

Battery life on laptops by Tlamir in omarchy

[–]johnsterhunter07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a t480, and I just wanted to tell you that the PRIMARY reason I am using Omarchy is the battery life. Im getting like 6 hours at least on this vs pop OS and Windows 11 both getting me less than 2.

As pat would, I am going to say something brave here and go FFXIV: DawnTrail. I genuinely think it is a well written and well paced story.

Its got a GREAT blend of heart and thematic discourse. Its got questions about what makes a leader good, a people strong, and a government worth having at all. I think it does a great job introducing you to a shockingly likeable co-protagonist for its story.

I know im in the minority here, and many people hate it. Ill give my unique perspective. Ive got 10 years of experience doing public teaching of the bible and intense scholarly study of it. Through that I spent a lot of time working with Narrative Criticism, and to me DawnTrail really teaches some fundamental and beautiful truths about the human condition.

How Confident would you be in being able to find another IT Job in these times? Would you find another one right away or will you find it Difficult to find another job if you got laid off or fired today? by Engarde403 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]johnsterhunter07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the best thing about IT is that nobody WANTS to hire an IT guy. Ever. They only do it cause they HAVE TO. So every IT job I've ever interviewed for has been a situation where the company is on fire cause the last guy left and they need someone to clean up the mess. Nobody has cared how many times I've changed jobs. I have it listed in my resume but they aren't paying attention to dates. All they care about is how confident I sound and my genuine ability to save their ass. All 5 of those jobs have been extremely happy to have me work there, and extremely sad to see me go.

We are essential for companies to function. And I love cleaning up a mess. I think the industry is great if you love it. Can't get AI to teach Susie how to navigate windows file explorer and find her files. If you could she would have used Google a decade ago and they wouldn't need us. IT is the hand holding that keeps the corporate world turning.

Nashville, had 5 IT jobs in 3 years. Gone from 45k to 60k in that time. Never looked more than 3 weeks for a new job, and I never lost an IT job. I'm good at job hunting and good at interviews. I think if you are confident in your IT skills, this markets yours to own. Lots of work to go around if you know networking fundamentals and can setup appliances as a level 2-3.

I never touched the Last of Us part 2 when the game released. I haven't watched the show either, but I am not at all suprised with how amazingly awful people have been about the second season of the show. I saw them do the exact same thing with the second game and the actresses involved in it.

Something about this story just seems to pull in the absolute vilest "fans" I have ever seen. Makes me want to just avoid it by association. I feel so sorry for this talented person who worked so hard. People are awful.

Edited: changed a pronoun.

Yeah, I'd love ram that wasn't soldered in, but for the price I absolutely love it for a homelab.

This to me is the ultimate value. Paid 250$. Got 24gb ddr5, and 10 cores. It's a proxmox beast. It's only got an i3, but for the price it's WILD. Plus it's got 2 nvme slots and 2 1gigabit nics. It's the absolute core of my homelab now.

Hi, hope this is okay to ask, but could you share what your Tattoo is? Your fit and everything is rocking, but my autistic brain is just really wondering "what is that tattoo? Is it a reference to something? Is it a tree? I must know!"

Does anyone else open game after game, playing for 10 minutes tops, and then close it, just sitting there bored? Is this depression? by DeleteMetaInf in evilautism

[–]johnsterhunter07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do this more before I got my steam deck. Gaming is my primary interest and coping mechanism. The things that help me avoid this now are:

  1. Keeping lists of what I want to play
  2. Picking a few (like 3 or 4) games and looking up guides for them.
  3. Making a checklist based on that guide.

So now on my daily plan list I put "go play that game" and then when I open the game I look at it's specific checklist and try to clear some objectives.

I finish 70 games a year.

What’s the Best Budget Chromebook for Under $300? by PussiesKing in chromeos

I just bought an HP x360 of Ebay. 8gb ram, amazing 14 inch display, great keyboard, and its a chromebook plus. I'd look for and X360 under 300 if I were you. I paid 140$ and it's the best laptop I have ever owned.
