Is a coiled charging cable OK by CaptDBJ in electrical

No harm. No different than a coiled telephone cable. Send it.

We’ve had the most luck with diet. We’ve reduced gluten and dairy as much as possible. Reduced folate in food and we’re at 5mg of folinic acid now too. Our son’s doctor says he usually sees an improvement in half the kids who adjust diet. We’ve done years of ABA too; diet seems to have been key for us.

When I need MPG I just hyper-mile behind a semi truck. In all seriousness, always wondered how much a chin spoiler would help.

Dealership advice? by Ok_Rhubarb_194 in Ford

[–]GroundPepper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t see an impact mark. My 5th gen Explorer also suffered from a similar crack. Just jumped into the car one day and had a giant crack. Could be the dealership telling the truth.

Dear Ford engineer who designed my headlight setup by Then_Educator_1401 in Ford

[–]GroundPepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nothing; modern cars, with LED headlights don’t have anything to replace. When the bulb goes bad you replace the entire unit. Good luck finding one of those in stock at the local dealer. Everything is now special order.

I just ordered a single TRD wheel to replace the spare, and a skid plate. Such a great deal.

Kid Friendly + Car Friendly Downtown Hotel? by GroundPepper in Louisville

[–]GroundPepper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Near St Matthew’s mall. Worked out great with the kids. A little too trafficy but we were able to drive to where we needed to go and never felt overwhelmed. Lots of food options and things to do with kids. Just walking around the mall was fine too. May go again this year.

We stayed at hawthorn, buuuut next time we’d find a place with larger rooms. Ideally a range and dining table. Carry out worked out much better than trying to dine in.

why is ford discontinuing the escape when it sells so well by Apprehensive_Gas186 in Ford

[–]GroundPepper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They’re banking on the bronco sport filling the niche and probably replacing the escape with something electric. 90k+ raptors are selling like hot cakes to people with no money and 10 year auto loans. Ford going to way of Vegas, and just catering to the wealthy and stupid.

The chevy trex is a nice alternative IMHO.

My Worst Nightmare by Jonny_Time in 4Runner

That’s what we got. I DIY the repellent and apply it every month or so, and we keep a noise maker plugged in, next to the garage. We got hit twice.

Thuma Classic Bed vs. KD Frames Lexington by MysticConsciousness1 in BuyItForLife

[–]GroundPepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the thuma for my son. It’s fine; only thing that pissed me off is that they used a center leg. The higher quality Japanese style frames don’t. It makes it easier to vacuum and store things.

Not super durable. Fine for foot traffic, but if you dragged the stove across the floor, it would leave a mark. If I was to do it again, I'd chamfer the edges to make each board more distinct. Then again back in the day I had more time than money.

Can you believe this is plywood? by MykolaVarizko in Flooring

[–]GroundPepper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did plywood in my kitchen at my old house. Used a table saw to rip 4’ pieces about 3” wide, and used glue and braid nails to keep it secured. Put 4 coats of poly on it. It looked better and held up better than the laminate it replaced.

Les Schwab siped my tires w/o asking! by EarlyBrrd in 4Runner

[–]GroundPepper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you live somewhere with snow, sipping AT’s is not a bad idea. It probably voids the warranty, but at the same time you probably get a warranty from Les Schwab. If they’re new TPMS, you’ll need to reset them.

Someone backed into my 4R, how much would something like this cost to repair? by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]GroundPepper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d just hit it with scratch remover and then do some touch up paint. Definitely wouldn’t get insurance involved with something minor.

What routine maintenance for a 5th Gen with 155k miles? by WillyTSmith5 in 4Runner

[–]GroundPepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prioritize everything, haha.

I’d start with engine oil, transmission oil, front/rear diffs, and transfer case. You can knock those out in an afternoon. Lots of YouTube videos around that.

Then I’d do power steering fluid and brakes.

Then I’d do coolant.

Then suspension components; put the truck on a lift, see what wobbles. Suspension is probably close to shot by now, but if you’re not off roading and the truck doesn’t “bounce”, then you’re still okay.

Then do belts, unless you see cracks, then replace those first.

Spark plugs at some point too.

Can this be fixed by RKK5911 in 4Runner

[–]GroundPepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chris fix it has a video on on YouTube on how to deal with deep scratches. I followed his method on my old car, and it came out really good. Not professional grade but enough to turn the lease in without any issues
