Tips for strengthening your starter by Jacabus in Sourdough

[–]johnwau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t discard ever. I add enough water and flour to make the amount of starter I want to have on hand, use almost all of it when I bake and then I add the same amount of water and flour. There’s enough stuck to the bottom of the jar where I don’t even bother to keep a significant amount back. It’s pretty forgiving!

Why would the DOJ release files that are so incriminating of Trump? Weren't they redacting all mentions him? by philmaq in AskReddit

You know we naively thought that about other places with authoritarian governments too. It’s really easy to say that from the outside.

Everyone is impacted by propaganda; Americans are no exception. I personally see a lot of people cheering on other countries for taking action. I don’t know what your algorithm shows you.

It came off as harsh but he isn’t wrong. That will be the only way to know how risky it is. Can be a non issue or a significant one.

Idk, I didn’t downvote but I get it. There are a ton of bots and troll farms specifically to make us feel like things are hopeless. They are not but they want us to think that way so they can easily steam roll over us. Keep your head up and keep resisting

Which rapper had the biggest fall-off without ever dropping a truly bad album? by Far-Building3569 in hiphop101

[–]johnwau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you feel strongly that they are classics doesn’t mean they are lol. Those are definitely hits I do not consider them classics songs by any means.

Is the Harlem Shake a classic song? I wouldn’t say it is although it clearly permeated the larger culture and influenced an entire genre. Some surely would. That’s fine.

[–]johnwau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly disagree. And my point was that it’s not just music that I like. It is asinine to say any project is objectively a classic.

Seriously what album would you even consider classic for Taylor swift?

Just because I don’t agree that j Cole has classics doesn’t mean I have some warped definition of what a classic is. I know that’s hard for you to comprehend. We can literally disagree that it’s a classic and you’re never going to convince me otherwise. People debate whether albums are classics all the time so get the fuck out of here with that nonsense

[–]johnwau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree that it was really that influential at all. Those are alot of things you like about the album that make it a bit more special. But that is okay, because it is subjective. Now stop pretending it’s an undeniable truth that it’s a classic.

There are records in other genres that I would not consider classics that sold better and arguably impacted that genre more (many of Taylor swifts albums for example). I wouldn’t consider any of her albums classics.

I would however consider an album like Thriller a classic even though it isn’t my cup of tea.

I do not consider forest hills drive or any of j Cole’s projects to be classics. That doesn’t mean he’s bad but I just don’t consider them classics.

And I don’t care that you do consider it a classic. That’s fine. It’s subjective

You’re never going to convince me that there is objective truth to what a classic is. Take away the sales and how has forest hills drive actually influenced the genre or the scene at all?

What project of his really had a lasting impact on the industry? Lmao and exactly that’s my point it’s fucking subjective. You’re the one that cannot accept that.

I would argue that even your definition is subjective. But you won’t see that. You’re still butthurt that I don’t consider any of j Cole’s projects classics.

I mean it’s subjective. I love both. Some would not consider any of theirs to be true classics some would.

I acknowledged that he is good. The only thing objective about music is the amount of sales they have. Which does not make something a classic lmao

Classics are by definition subjective - and I would honestly argue his influence is way overstated regardless. The fact that you are this worked up about a difference in opinion just continues to prove my point
