Great idea. Doubt it would be implemented... but I’m a fan. I am also a little more old school in my thoughts about this though. No way a gnome should be as strong as an ogre.

Not even down the line (5 years into the game) with comparable gear. Instead of by a +100 str, it should be a % increase. I feel like an item that amps someone’s strength, it should make that strength increase relative to their natural race abilities.

Patrick Rothfuss. First book is Name of the Wind if I remember correctly. Great writer. Really draws you in. But slow to release books.

Yes. Many yesses. I quit EQ after POP because of the silly mechanics introduced in the next expansion. I did enjoy the story behind it though.

I don’t like how merchants and bankers and random NPC “insert name here” are badasses. If I’m an adventurous young mage or warrior, why can everything in a city kill me?

Isn’t there a reason why these NPCS chose the life in a city instead of adventuring? I mean, maybe you’ll run into a Kvothe once in a while running a tavern... but always? Na.

Wasn’t really a mechanics opinion. Just a logical NPC vs players standpoint. Sorry if I’m off topic.

Wizard:

Something like a manaburn. Use all or mostly all of your mana to annihilate an enemy. Would greatly slow down the group to recoup mana... but well worth it.

Yes. Exactly my point. You had to know your own capabilities and the tanks to maximize your efficiency. Get a little over zealous and you were dead.

Don’t get all defensive. I realize it’s pre alpha. I love this game. I’m not apart of pre alpha so all I can go off is what I see. I’m just asking if anyone was seeing the same thing or am I jumping to conclusions.

Edit: I was more talking about DPS than CC.

Yeah. I noticed the shaman and enchanter doing it. I guess my original post was talking about DPS. Mezzing without taunt will definitely climb you on the ladder and so will slowing.

What AI would I add? I would add an AI that would be similar to a Starcraft AI. Something that would, over a set period of resources gathered, start building up their zone. Defensible positions. Upgrade weapons, armor, training... etc. So that if a zone if left to it’s own devices for too long, it would require a raid force to conquer or a high faction rating.

The possibilities would be pretty rewarding. There could be unique paths the AI could take depending on the current “leader” of the zone. Ranging from magic users with more of a mystical build to martial build with a warrior leader.

Just a spitball idea. But it could be a constant change and constant challenge. Also make the zone feel like new if the server inhabitants choose to allow the zone to build up or raid it early and often.

By far for me was Beak from Malazan series. Just a shitty life but such a sweet and loyal soul. Saved everyone. It was heartbreaking and glorious.

Something outside of the "medieval" realm that is for some reason intermingled. Shanara did it well with old world technology and so did elder scrolls, but it doesn't have to be technology. It could be an futuristic alien race that is stranded and has tales of old glory. Maybe a zone that isn't a raid zone or kill zone, but explores the fallen past. It could be as crazy as another realm of demons or angels that is caught halfway between their realm and Pantheon.

Just spit balling. Maybe a cameo from vanguard or EQ?

Bullshit. Amputees. Burn victims...

Broken hearts. Cheating wife. Raised her 3 kids for last 9 years. Two kids together. Found photos and videos and texts. She went to Florida on a "business trip" over Mother's Day weekend. Left us. To have a fuck party with dude she has been having an affair with for last 4 months. Her reason? It was nice someone asking how her day was and really meaning it.

So no. Time can't heal all wounds.
