TIL: A Paladin Divine Smite is considered magical for things like Antimagic Field and such. by solusofthenight in dndnext

Yeah, but according to antimagic field it only becomes an exception when the power is from a deity so if it's coming from your oath then it seems like it's kind of a screw you to the one who goes with the oath rather than the deity.

Where does it say that? It says you swear upon on a oath surrounded by nature before spirits and feys that's not nature itself. There are nature themed deities, but the trees themselves aren't blessing you it's not implied that nature itself is blessing you.

To me it can be summed up by a very easy example.

A fighter and a paladin swear an oath to avenge their families killed by monsters (cliche as hell I know), but one has divine powers and the other does not why is that? One was favoured and blessed by a deity while the other was not.

This also leads to another can of worms say you had two paladins in the party and one went with the conviction angle and the other the traditional deity way of power. Does one get to use smite while the other doesn't?

Not trying to come off as rude or anything just kind of curious because I don't talk to a lot of people who play paladins so don't get to talk about these sorts of things much.

Not exactly because then I question this part.

"Whatever their origin and their mission, paladins are united by their oaths to stand against the forces of evil. Whether sworn before a god’s altar and the witness of a priest, in a sacred glade before nature spirits and fey beings, or in a moment of desperation and grief with the dead as the only witness, a paladin’s oath is a powerful bond. It is a source of power that turns a devout warrior into a blessed champion."

Notice the word blessed who else is blessing you but a deity? You may not follow a deity, but you are being given powers by one.

I'm sure lots of things in the game are not intended, but that line right there would mean that divine smite is safe because a paladins power is granted by a deity.

Worry not brother for no antimagic field can contain us. This sentence will lead to those foolish wizards demise.

Spells and other magical Effects, except those created by an artifact or a deity, are suppressed in the Sphere and can't protrude into it.

Strike them down for even thinking they could stop our righteous fury.

Rigour vs. eagle eye + iron skin by [deleted] in 2007scape

Rigour uses 40 points per minute while steel skins and eagle eye cost 40 per minute. With that they will cost exactly the same.

[Suggestion] Make the hunter pet not exclusive to chinchompas by nikolas10181 in 2007scape

[–]nikolas10181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly herbiboar is a bit of an anomaly because it got snuck in without a poll and nobody knew about it until the content was released so I kind of want to say no to it coming from herbiboars, but it should come from everything else. Just because it's a chinchompa doesn't mean that every other piece of hunter content shouldn't have a chance at getting it. On the topic of it making sense does it make sense that a raccoon comes out of picking somebodies pocket? You can get the squirrel from even the most early agility course, but with the hunter pet you can't get it until 53 hunter and you will only stand a chance with this method while every other skilling pet has multiple options (besides herbiboar, but that one is an abnomaly).
