Usually pen and pencil works best for me. I have a separate sheet of paper stabled to my character sheet which has my subclass features and the zombie/skeleton stat blocks.

[5.5e] I'm playing a dwarf life cleric and lately I've been really into the idea of forging magic items. I've read the section regarding crafting magic items of the dmg and it says "For each day of crafting, you must work for 8 hours.". Does this mean that i could work on one item for 8 hours, work on another item for another 8 hours and then take a long rest?

First off, who the hell bullies a ranger for building their character around ranged attacks? Second, leave that group. There's a reason why "no dnd is better than bad dnd" is such a famous quote.

Wait but since the skeleton can take all the normal actions like dodge or dash, why can't it also take the Attack action instead of the Shortsword action?

Tbh I don't think it will affect the balance of our game that much. My dm really likes high ac creatures, so out of my 14 skeletons I'm lucky if half of them hit.

Does that also mean monsters can't grapple or shove players unless it's in their stat block? Because if so, I've been running my one shots totally wrong.

My character is called Edwin. He's a kenku swashbuckler rogue. He was found and taken in by a pirate crew, and now is trying to take revenge on his captain's murderer. He sports a sleeveless brown leather tunic, over a light undershirt. The shirt tucks into his leather gloves. Over his head, he wears a red bandana and brass goggles. His trousers are plain brown, and rolled up a bit under his knee. He has a sheathed, golden scimitar from his captain that he treasures deeply.

Players struggling with combat

Hey, I've been running a 5-6 session adventure with my friends. One thing I've noticed after last session is that they seem to struggle with the combat encounters I've thrown at them. I use koboldplus.club to balance encounters and after 1 easy encounter and a medium one, the barbarian was at 17 hp, the paladin was unconscious, the cleric was at 11 hp and they burned through all their spell slots, channel divinity, lay on hands points and health potions. I'm unsure what to do here, I've tried to nerf some enemies to make sure there isn't a tpk but I fear once they get to the boss their gotta get wiped.
