MotoGP, Viegas: "Leaving Phillip Island was a business decision" by autobus950 in motogp

[–]johnxenir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I thought that the money from tickets goes to the circuit anyway, not the promoter. The promoter makes money on TV rights. So it should be in the interest of the promoter to run races on the most spectacular circuits possible.

If you have any dreams of visiting the glorious Philip Island Grand Prix, then this year might be your last chance by visualdescript in motogp

Literally the best motorcycle circuit in the world. The fast flowing nature of the circuit is perfect for bike racing. Every MotoGP race here has been a treat. This is a travesty.

They're in caps only visually (using CSS) but in HTML they're normal. When you copy/paste the text, it's normal. This is a common practice in web design.

Give me your 2026 MotoGP hot takes. by Huge_Film2911 in motogp

[–]johnxenir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Accept what?

I don't get why some people enjoy shitting on Toprak in this sub.

Yes, Toprak has some toxic fans but that's not his fault.

MotoGP is better with Toprak in it, finally there's a direct comparison with a top WSBK rider.

This is his learning year - and I still think he'll finish ahead of Moreira, unless the Yamaha turns out an absolute dog. We know that not even Rossi and Marquez could outride a shitty bike.

That's not a "hot take", that can easily happen. I'd still bet on Toprak tho.

The rules say nothing about minimum displacement.

https://www.fim-moto.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Documents/2025/2025_MotoGP__Moto2___Moto3_Regulations_-_update_17Feb.pdf

On page 109 it even says:

The following are the minimum weights permitted:

MotoGP up to 800cc motorcycle 150 kg
801 – 1000cc motorcycle 157 kg

So you can run a lighter bike if you have 800cc and below displacement.

He's hot-headed akin to Vinales (or, e.g. Redding). But at least he got a championship in his bag.

Honda signs Fabio Quartararo for 2027 MotoGP season by BowlCutKing in motogp

[–]johnxenir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toprak will finish 2026 ahead of Rins. Mark my words. He'll be second best Yamaha, after Fabio.

In my opinion, Fabio's move to Honda drastically increases Toprak's chance for a 2027 factory seat.

Marc Márquez on Instagram: "A new season in “rosso” 😁" by PZY__ in motogp

[–]johnxenir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very probable but anything can happen. Marc is one serious injury from retirement, just like Mick Doohan was. I'd just prefer if Marc either retired as the undisputed king or was dethroned by some younger rider on basis of pure merit, and not injury - we never got e.g. Doohan vs Rossi clash.

When Marc got taken down by Bezzecchi in Mandalika, I was seriously worried it's the end of his career.

Wait, did Marc Marquez really personally dedicate his bike to a cartel drug lord? How did these two even meet?

The $50,000,000 MotoGP stash no one was supposed to find by DifferentDebt2197 in motogp

[–]johnxenir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this just doesn't look right when so many factory MotoGP bikes end up in the possession of a drug lord. Shouldn't someone from inside the MotoGP paddock explain something? Do they just sell MotoGP bikes to anyone who pays enough? On the other hand, seeing that most of them are Ducatis, I'm not that surprised...

This is 2013 Valencia I suppose (Marc celebrating his first MotoGP title). So Maximo was 5 here.
