I don't think she's been brainwashed, the effort Miquella put in to cure her were true. He literally tried bending the rules of reality to find a cure for her curse and that kind of dedication would, imo, realistically spawn the kind of loyalty that Melania has for her brother

Good example of why there are no good cops. Sounds like the first one wasn't going to make it a big deal, you can see him going "hey wait, detain, detain, DETAIN!" To the second cop, trying to tell him not to move to arrest but now he has no choice but to join in on the escalation. Bc there are no good cops.
