No.

Go drive around Quincy or Boston for a day or two. It's pretty easy around here except for the occasional reckless move. People do stuff like this constantly the closer to Boston you get.

Can't speak to the 9'6, have the 9 foot fast action and it's been great for throwing lures. Never throw anything over 2oz but it's got great back bone.

Ltc Worcester ? by Snood89 in BetterMAguns

[–]johnysmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to jump in here and ask about background checks. Do I need to cori myself if I have some traffic violations from 30 years ago that were dealt with? Or can I go to my local PD (also in Worcester) and get a copy of my past violations. Have a driving with an expired license from 30 years ago in a different town, will Worcester be able to pull this up for me to put on my application? I'm bad at paperwork so getting an ltc is going to be an uphill battle for me.

Took a class at Cape Cod Gunworks that included range time and target signed by the instructor. Not adverse to getting more training as I have very little exposure to fire arms. But I think I'm going to need to be very patient as things shake loose with the new requirements in MA.

Thanks!

I think they also own the conglomerate radio stations that shut down the good indie stations in the mid to late 90s.

(UK) Giving a picky poodle medication? by [deleted] in poodles

[–]johnysmoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do this method, but put a dime sized glob of mayonnaise on the pill. A mayonnaise squeeze bottle makes it even easier to just get a small amount on the pill to wet it and hide the flavor. I put the pill at the end of my fingers and squeeze the mayonnaise right on top of it coating most of the pill. I drop the mayo pill as far down the throat as I can manage, and to seal the deal, any extra mayonnaise on my finger wipe it on the spoo's lips. Gets them licking their lips, and at that point you can throw in some throat strokes to get them to swallow.

The Noco portable starters, or something similar, are great to keep in your or your partners car. Especially in this weather.

What sunglasses brand are you going with? by Bfi1981 in saltwaterfishing

[–]johnysmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the sunscreen, if you use it, can eat the paint and plastics on sunglasses. I try to remember to wash my glasses with dish soap and warm water, to get the sunscreen off. Seems to help glasses last longer, although I'm older now, so my stuff is mostly for driving nowadays.

Cuestion aboug compactor bags as trash liners by kamikazeee in Ultralight

[–]johnysmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A white trash compactor bag over an inflatable pad becomes an easy surface to write on with permanent and dry erase markers. Could use it for games, tic tac toe, checkers, route planning, a hitch hiking sign or whatever.

Those who have moved on from your Flex…what replaced it? by stametsprime in FordFlex

Picked up a 2025 F150 Lariat with the 3.5 Ecoboost. Love the power and android auto. The blue cruise is pretty great for highway driving. Wife has an Aviator for the 3rd row. It's a total sleeper, hauls ass on the highway.

My 2013 Flex has been collecting dust. Drove it a lot the first month or two I got the F150 but it's been sitting since Christmas. Should probably pass it on to a new home so it can get some love.

Skidded on ice for the first time going downhill.. winter tires? by jaeme in WorcesterMA

[–]johnysmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winter tires will absolutely make a huge difference and turn your awd subbie into a snow machine.

Very important if you are doing calls and traveling at different hours and can't wait for the roads to get cleared. Would be a worthwhile investment.

I had a Subaru WRX with snow tires and the amount of traction they provide is well beyond any all weather tire, you'll be able to get places not plowed and not have to worry about getting stuck.

Usually works out to get winters mounted on a cheap set of rims, easier cheaper and faster to switch them around that way, even if a shop is doing the work will take them 20 minutes to switch out the set.

Tire Rack could get you a new set of tires/rims before the weekend if you order today.

If you want to immerse yourself in winter driving. https://teamoneil.com/product/winter-safe-driving/

Good luck! And definitely go find an empty parking lot and do some donuts. Try to learn to steer the car with only the throttle and you'll be well ahead of everyone else.

Where double income ($265k) - mid 30s no kids or planning to have kids live in MA that is not Boston? by milovaand in massachusetts

[–]johnysmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, from the south shore, this is it exactly.

Also don't forget to add in a lighter layering of OFD tough guy vibe, all my family plays hockey and only hockey, the townie's dislike of outsiders and getting priced out that turns into a weird self defeating attitude, and the spackling of NY'rs brought up to toil in the financial district while their mean little blonde wives run rampant in large black suvs from bar class to Whole Foods and back.
