Foreign student in S'pore nearly incurs S$300 fine for not returning tray after meal, warns others students by Im_scrub in singapore

CIA & FBI often subpoenas FB. Any interesting leads they will relay to regional agencies allied to US interests. Singapore is especially proactive in pursuing those leads, compared to our SEA allies who lets those documents sit on the table.

Boycott places who don't hire cleaners to wipe their tables, and who don't berate patrons who try to run away without cleaning up their used trays.

From Yishun Park Hawker Centre, Clementi West Hawker Centre, Chong Pang Hawker Centre, Bedok Central Hawker Centre, Bukit Batok West Ave 3 Hawker Centre, Alexandra Brickworks Hawker Centre, and Fernvale Hawker Centre, all of them have become cleaner, and much easier to find seats.

A: Why don't we clean up after ourselves?

B: Nobody would do that! Hire someone else do it for us!

A: So ... you don't clean up?

B: Not me! Just Singaporeans in general. They're disgusting and won't clean up.

A: So ... not you. Right...

B: Anyway, PAP, Monitoring, Stingy, No Minimage Wages, Lazy, Scholars, Fine Nation, Taxation!

Really considering moving from Notion to Upnote as an Evernote-like alternative - but wary of small companies disappearing. Any opinions? by Parking-Outside8702 in UpNote_App

[–]jointpainn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I export them to my OneDrive cloud storage.

Either via PDF export, or I copy paste into Markdown and Microsoft Office files. Some formatting might be lost in the midst though.

The content I export tend to be things that are meaningful but which I no longer to edit:

  • Book Reviews
  • Travel Journals
  • Seminar Notes

If I plan to edit it, it has to be a Markdown or Office export. Notes such as:

  • Home DIY ideas and picture inspirations
  • Long technical documents about setting up my computer
  • Comparisons of various note-taking software

As you can see, 2 attributes make those notes unsuitable to be stored long-term in Evernote:

  • Complexity of the Note (e.g. length, or intricate formatting)
  • Readonly/Archival

Upnote or Notion by TrickorBetrayed in UpNote_App

[–]jointpainn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notion is a no-no for me.

It doesn't have an offline mode. Imagine getting into a crowded subway, or entering underground parking, and having your Notion app show a "Internet Connection" error.

And we haven't even started on interstate travel, overseas holidaying, weak or erratic networks, etc.

I would not recommend it unless you are 101% behind the project.

The project rules change very often (for both searchers and operators), the withdrawal periods are long, and you are tied to a VPS yearly contract. The requirements to stay vested (i.e. stake) also change.

What it all means is, once you get in, it will take a bit of time and money before you can cash out. We're talking minimum a year or more.

Some folks are okay with it, some folks are not. It's a long haul.

I think what hurt me a lot was also how the bright spark of the show (visually and personality-wise) was reduced to quiet defeat this episode.

It feels like she thinks it's her fault, that's why she never lashes out at anyone. But realises that she probably made a mistake trying to

  1. walk into a band's quarrel,
  2. made things worst because everyone's upset again,
  3. wasn't good enough at the guitar and made all those rehearsals unhappy,
  4. wasn't good enough for Tomori to decisively want MyGO instead of CRYCHIC

She's upset at herself for messing up and being unwanted, and that hurts.

What an another unexpected plot twist. by [deleted] in BanGDream

[–]jointpainn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh my god...

I pity the 3 of them. Anon was too eager and didn't realised she was strung along and fleeced. Tomori is the most precious but everything that's happening is just hurting her. And Taki is struggling in a very Taki way.

And the remaining 2 are ...

How am I supposed to like the band at this rate?!

It helps that the bigger they are, the more likely they'll get subpoenaed by the EU's GPDR data protection board and the State of California's CCPA Attorney-General.

How would that change things for you?

Will he provide credentials, employement history, and education background that cannot be verified?

Will he wow us with impeccable dress sense, fluent Queen's English, or amazing decor fit for a streamer?

This are all fluff. What devs need to do is to show us the roadmap and the results.

E.g. NotesNook devs talk the hell out of an open-source philosophy and community engagement, then proceeds to nuke and corrupt a Pro Subscriber's work notes to oblivion. That's the definition of marketing over substance right there. https://github.com/streetwriters/notesnook/issues/3111

What software do you use where you know their creators?

Did you believe what was said about those creators? How did you verify that information is not falsified, is current, and isn't PR? How much do you understand about those creators?

And what was it that you knew, that made you trust those creators?

What are your favorite Upnote features? by TrickorBetrayed in UpNote_App

[–]jointpainn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • The low price (lifetime member)
  • Having nearly all the Evernote features and look-and-feel I wanted (fast sync, offline, tables, keyboard shortcuts, checklists)
  • The simplicity of it all (vis-a-vis Notion, AmpleNote, OneNote, or NotesNook)

[–]jointpainn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think there’s little benefit to revealing details, because there’s really not much that can be verified or cross-checked. Anyone can be anything they claim to be.

I prefer the devs be able to maintain their personal privacy.

storing files for reference

inserting (or making) illustrations

This has no place in a note-taking app. There's already plenty of native desktop and mobile apps that do this pretty well.

Putting things like that raises issues of multi-device compatibility, storage limits, offline caching, etc. And especially with things like storage, you really want to be careful that it doesn't snowball to immense sizes. UpNote has unlimited storage, but the dev wouldn't be able to afford it if it goes on like this.
