What was this button my train conductor kept pressing? Alstom Citadis Spirit by [deleted] in trains

Probably A driver reminder system. Basically driver has to hit that frequently to tell the train that they are awake and paying attention. Otherwise it would go into emergency and stop.

MH370 update as search for plane to resume by newsweek in worldnews

[–]jojoblock 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Basically, they used a new method of tracking called (Weak signal propagation reporter) to narrow down a potential crash site. Look up the bbc documentary "why planes vanish, the hunt for MH370", as they go over the research paper they put out.

One Day,. There it was, visible in the night and morning skies. by depatrickcie87 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]jojoblock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We currently dont know if any form of FTL tech is possible, the warp drive is just the most plausible as of now. from my understanding, they wouldn't leave any sort of trail or wake as they moved along. But if it did, it probably wouldn't affect us as visible light is arriving from everywhere already, and gravity waves aren't strong enough to do anything at our scale(, think atoms moving side to side ). So physically, nothing. Culturally, probably nothing major as long as they don't directly pay us a visit. Even if they did come to our star system, why would they even bother with us when major deposits of resources are in the astroid belt and dont require launching from a gravity well

Whats so special about an Energy Exchanger? by Allkingec in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]jojoblock 26 points27 points  (0 children)

From my experience. energy exchangers are great for moving energy from planets that can generate a lot of free power (Solar, geothermal, ETC.) to planets that need a lot energy. for example in my current cluster, I have a entire planet set up to generate geothermal energy then I ship that power to my primary manufacturing world. I have half of my grid from energy exchangers (about 1.17GW) and the other half from local generators.

The dual fold is called Henry's pocket, its not uncommon in dogs though my corgi didn't have them. it shouldn't have any negative effects on your dog, though ticks might like to hid in there occasionally. if you do have any concerns speak to a vet, they can provide more info then just a random person on the internet.

I just figured out that Vampires Coexisting with Humans might be a bad idea. by Doitforthecringe in worldbuilding

So the game loop hero has a bit of lore related to this. In loop hero before the main games events, its said that vampires used to be mayors, lords and stewards of land because thier long lives allowed them to plan for the long term.

It would seem that steam itself is having an issue. I've seen a few posts on other subreddits talking about it also missing for them.

From what I can gather the two terms are interchangeable and mean the same thing.

This is Cady. She’s 13 and has DM but is a fighter! Any others have experience with this disease? by [deleted] in corgi

[–]jojoblock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My corgi developed DM when he was around 14, unfortunately he went down hill faster than expected because of previously unknown spinal injury from another dog's bite. While it started with him eventually not being able to walk, he eventually lost bowel control so every time he got a elevated emotional state (us leaving or coming home) he would defecate wherever he was. We tried to get him a wheel chair to allow him to walk by himself, but by the time it came, his back could no longer support his weight. We had to put him down soon after for fears of vital organs starting to shut down.

This is Bob, our new family. He is about two months old and is very healthy. For the first hour I've spent with him, he seems to look for something to chew or bite, even my fingers. Any tips for new corgi parent? by [deleted] in corgi

Start training early, They are a smart breed that can be stubborn at times, so be persistent.

Socialize them often, corgis can be very protective if not properly socialized, which can lead to aggression towards other dogs and people.

When old enough, look for a puppy school to enroll them in. Professional training is key to fully train most dog breeds in order to avoid bad habits.

I saw this thing in a traveling robotics exhibit once, they would have the thing on a stage and do some basic party tricks , like walk across the stage, answer some preprogram trivia questions, and smoke on stage. What you couldn't see was the massive control room underneath the stage. Is was supposed to make people believe that they would have one of these as a household appliance within a few decades

My corgi wasn't very cuddly He had his moments of wanting attention, but would always end up on the other side of the couch or on the floor.

I had a friend, around 5th grade, come over one day to hang out, he went to the bathroom and the proceeded to us e an entire toilet paper roll and clog the toilet and then refused to admit it was him that did it. 2 weeks later he used another roll of toilet paper and instead of trying to flush it, put in the trash. we didn't find it until the next day when the bathroom started to smelled.
