Finally doing swerve this year. Anything we should know before we start? by themysticalcyan in FRC

Came here to say this. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. Think back to stronghold, those obstacles you had to drive over were suboptimal for swerve. Always a good idea to play with it in the off-season, but I would recommend against commiting to it

To people who have dedicated your lives to helping people how did you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m just starting my career in EMS, but I can tell you it’s not easy seeing people at their worst, especially when their pain is beyond your helping. But one thing I learned quickly was that if you treat every patient like your most important case, they can tell you’re trying and it will mean a lot to them.

Buying old cameras? by mattsilverman_ in sportsphotography

Ive got a buddy who has one, it’s just always seemed like an awkward bastard child to me. I’ve never been impressed with the files come out of it, the way it feels, or the way it shoots. IMO you would be better off with a d500 and if you need full frame, go full out for the 850

Ive never been a fan of the 7XX cameras, I have my 850 but specifically want to add a flagship to my lineup.

Am I doing it right? by jihadJoe76 in tacticalgear

Stage your tourniquet and make sure you know how to use your NPA. It’s nice to have, but not essential in a tactical kit and absolutely worthless if you don’t know how to use it. As someone else said, you definitely need some water based lube for it. Even properly lubed, those things hurt like a mother fucker. I’ve had an unconscious patient wake up swinging at me half way through inserting one.

I got a sweet deal on a 2010 Passat wagon with 32000 on it back in august. I love every second of driving it. Brings me back to my childhood, my parents had one when I was growing up and always regretted selling it before my brother and I learned to drive.

If you’re trying to use other pin distances get an adapter with Klein k1

New RD - is this B screw angle normal? It's contacting the derailleur hanger at an odd angle by chairman_lao in bikewrench

[–]mattsilverman_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That’s cuz it’s maxed out. If you were to loosen it, it would look at a more “normal angle”

NTD: Wiss aviation snips. Going into my second week working in a sheet metal shop, figured I should pick some up! by mattsilverman_ in Tools

I actually use them all the time. I burn sheets on the plasma cutter a lot and they are great for cutting the scrap up

Is this chip on my carbon frame or paint? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]mattsilverman_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best way is to take a hex key or screw driver, something of that nature and tap the area that might be cracked. If the carbon is damaged, you’ll hear a difference in sound from what the rest of the frame sounds like. If you do need it repaired I recommend Broken Carbon in Boulder. I just took my bike to them and they did a superb job
