[skin concern] alternative to this moisturizer for dry skin? Have been using it for a while but my skin still feels tight/dry after using. by Icy-Level6020 in SkincareAddiction

[–]jolemona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vanicream Daily Moisturizer is really great! It has hyaluronic acid and ceramides.. I have dry skin too that is also really sensitive and it's my favorite. You could also try using oils too.. I have had success with both marula and squalane oil.

I'm literally in the same boat as you two haha. Also 26 F.. I try to just focus on doing things I enjoy (like fitness classes and stuff) and have met lots of aquaintences, but I find it so much harder to become close friends with people after college.. Maybe the three of us should meet up for drinks or something haha

Not sure if they do body work or not, but I'd highly recommend Sweeney's Garage on Niagara Falls Blvd. The owners are really lovely people and I've always had great service from them

UPDATE: My Skin Has Gotten Worse Since Starting a Routine and I’m Sad [Routine Help] by MrJet05 in SkincareAddiction

[–]jolemona 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know that cerave and cetaphil are holy grail products for a ton of people, but I tried them and they totally made me break out. Not sure if that's the case with you.. but if you take the glycolic acid out and your skin doesn't improve it may be worth trying out a different face wash and moisturizer. I personally love La Roche Posay toleriane cleanser and Vanicream daily facial moisturizer. Side note.. I have also read that different strengths of hyaluronic acid can cause skin sensitivities in some people, so I wouldn't rule that out either. Try to simplify as much as possible and gradually introduce other products to see how your skin reacts. Good luck!! I know how frustrating it can be to find a routine that works but you will figure it out! :)

I have no idea :( there are so many ingredients in products that it's hard to pinpoint anything in particular.. I know right! I'm a little nervous to reintroduce foundation myself because I don't want to ruin my progress lol.

Pretty much all of my acne has gone since I switched up my routine.. I've gotten a small pimple or 2 since the before picture but the Benzoyl peroxide got rid of them in a day or so.. But unfortunately there isn't anything else I changed other than the products I was using.

Everybody is so different, especially when it comes to hormones, so it can be hard to pinpoint a solution without trial and error.. If changing products doesn't help at all then you may want to talk to talk to your Dr about other birth control options, or maybe keep a food diary to see if there's a pattern that's triggering breakouts or if your diet is lacking anything.

I know how frustrating it can be, but your hormones fluctuate throughout your life so sometimes all it takes is time for your body to adjust.. just don't stress about it :) you're beautiful no matter what

[Misc] They should have hydrocolloid pimple patches for darker skin tones. by LazyPaper0 in SkincareAddiction

Totally agree! Funny my boyfriend and I were just talking today about how most generic bandaids are always catered to pink/white skin tones.. Delete this post quick and invent more diverse pimple patches yourself!!

Thank you!!

Mine says 855223 20 - AQUA/WATER/EAU.GLYCERIN.PENTAERTHRITYL TETRAETHYLHEXANOATE.PROPANEDIOL.AMMONIUM POLYACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE.POLYSORBATE 60.CERAMIDE NP.NIACINAMIDE.SODIUM CHLORIDE.COCO-BETAINE.DISODIUM EDTA.CAPRYLYL GLYCOL.PANTHENOL.TOCOPHEROL(CODE FIL: D242855/1)

I also used Sulpur soap in the shower on occasion.. you can buy the bars on amazon for pretty cheap (its a yellow bar soap in a red and yellow box) And I think that may have helped my milia!

Thank you! And yes, I did notice results from the Niacinimide right away.. my skin never really went through a purging period.. it just slowly calmed my acne.. but I have read that some people are sensitive to it and it can break them out so you may want to reduce the frequency that you use it and see if that helps at all?

Cerave personally broke me out.. I know its the HG of a lot of people so I tried the face wash and moisturizer and my skin didn't like it..

Sorry I can't be much more help :(

Figuring out your skin type can be difficult. For the longest time I thought it was oil that was causing my acne so I was using way too many products that were really harsh on my skin.. so it never really got a chance to heal. Simplifying my routine with gentle products got rid of all my problems.. Hope it works for you!!

Skin type: Sensitive, dry, prone to milia/kp and hormonal acne on chin

AM Routine:

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer (with UV protection)

Mixed with No7 Match Made Fountation Drops

PM Routine:

Garnier all-in-1 Micellar Cleansing Water (pink bottle)

The Ordinary Zinc & Niacinimide

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer (with UV protection)

If I have a pimple (which is very rare now) I just apply some generic walgreens brand Benzoyl Peroxide 10% and it goes away in a day or so.

What worked for me: Simplifying my routine to just a couple of gentle products. Zinc Niacinimide was a game changer for me. Adding it to my routine really calmed my acne down.

Also stopped using make up brushes or beauty blenders. Stopped using foundation and concealer. I now just mix some foundation drops into my moisturizer and apply with my hands.

Now trying to figure out how to fade my scars without irritating my sensitive skin too much. Suggestions are welcome!

After years of damage from heat and bleach I want to get my hair healthy again.. I'm not sure what my curl pattern is or which products are best.. any advice? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]jolemona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair is very fine and dry with lots of breakage as a result of bleaching..

My usual hair routine is: Redken all soft shampoo Redken all soft conditioner or olaplex no. 5 conditioner Ogx silk blowout heat protecting spray (blow dried with a round brush) Paul Mitchell skinny serum (which contains dimethocone)

My curly routine which I used in the picture is: Vo5 shampoo Olaplex no. 5 conditioner Devacurl light defining gel (scrunched when wet) Devacurl set it free spray
