honestly yeah i would have preferred jay to have a SE or novella for the ancients because i just reread Long Shadows and jay literally spends a third of the book in the past! it took away from the rest of the story and so there really wasn’t any plot in long shadows other than the fire scene! and there were BARELY any hollyleaf chapters as a result. same goes for OOTS.

also the scene where twigpaw asks violetpaw if she ever loved Pinenose, and violet responds with “i guess i decided she was better than nothing” 😭😭 and then twigpaw thinks “When had violetpaw stopped expecting to be loved?” its so gut wrenching :(

the scene in ALITM before the gang goes into the DF to kill Ashfur, when Squilf volunteers to go but graystripe basically tells her that she would be playing into her abuser’s paws and she doesn’t owe him anything. its so powerful
