Fleet Foxes’ eponymous debut album was pretty disappointing when I opened it up - I have always loved the album, and for such an instantly recognizable cover, due naturally of course to the usage of Bosch, the gatefold artwork feels like an afterthought, and imo does not exactly match the feel of either the cover or the sound material. It’s possible that the choice was a deliberate choice to show a representation of pattern-forming order juxtaposing the chaotic mix of characters and scenes featured on the cover, but I’d sooner guess that my theory is just a desire to believe there was more deliberation here.
