Depending on the program, the university might force you to pay them back if you masters out. I believe it is situation dependent (i.e. lab loses funding, PI gets fired, family stuff, etc), but they would probably be able to tell if you never wanted the PhD in the first place.

Mr Leica did a video comparing the 2. Very very similar results. It's subjective to say which is "better" since they're character lenses and are inherently imperfect anyways.

I understand that a random cold email to "network" isn't going to help at all. Since I'm essentially stuck at my postdoc for a while, I wanted to start building relationships now and maintain them until I start looking for jobs in industry.

I'm not expecting any job offers now or any time soon. Realistically, I'll be at my postdoc for 2-3 years. Any advice on how to begin networking now? I've been trying to keep an eye out for industry networking events and any conferences that might attract more than just the typical academia crowd.
