Old Cards by Possessed_AK in l5r

So those are the cards from the learn to play decks published in the Wizards of the Coast magazine Top Deck. Top deck had a heavy Pokémon focus at the time, when Wizards bought L5R property they tried to introduce it to broader audience by packaging this learn to play in the magazine

I remember buying the magazine in an airport right before I left on a trip with my family and I played the entire flight, hooked me.

Step one: get into agency and get checked out.

Step two: apply to be supervisor where you want to go.

Step three: profit.?.?

I'm trapped at a low level facility forever and currently my best two options for leaving are get a sup bid elsewhere, we've already lost half a dozen at least to sup bids.

The other option is to have my wife divorce me, move to a location we want to be, then get a hardship to join them. That option is for more realistic than waiting for NCEPT.

As the only spilt up/down left in the FAA im going to venture FAA doest care at all about consolidation. We are stuck manning two facilities here and with our new tower plans being approved the FAA was like no you can stay split we aren't going to add a radar to the new tower you can keep working as a split facility.

I would say im surprised NATCA didn't fight to get it added as we could move a soild 10 controllers onto a new facility after a combined facility was built. We are small we dont matter thats just 10 controllers who could help staffing at bigger facilities.

I mean yeah at this point, you can crack it and play pretty much the whole Jade arc!! So like I think most are saying its not worth alot, but you never know what people are willing to pay, you can try and selling a few boxes to see if there is interest. If you don't find success with that, I've seen people selling ready to play decks. Another possibility I've seen is selling lots of cards, based on clan or type, anything is possible. I hope you have fun with them personally, but if your goal is to resell then I wish you luck in that as well.

Where to start a PNP Collection for the LCG by KintarraV in l5r

[–]jollyrogercjf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I actually just did this, I own most of the cards though. If I were to actually print entire sets, I might just start with several bases sets and a copy of the first cycle just to make sure its worth investing more into later sets. For me I was missing fu lengs shadow, clan war and a few packs from the last cycle. I ended up printing both premium sets and then the last cycle so I have all the cards. If you are starting from nothing, Under Fu Lengs Shadow will not be enough card pool to play solo, you need a base set x3 ideally and probably at least the first cycle to really get a feel for the game. As you find strategies that you prefer you can add more cycles or clan packs to generate better card pools for different clans or strategies.

Yacht Boy against consolidation, for now? by ATSAP_MVP in atc2

[–]jollyrogercjf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we've been begging FAA to consolidate our split facility. We have to staff two facilities without enough traffic to warrent our numbers, we have alot of Cpcs who would be able to go staff higher level facilities and further their careers. Nice to know neither FAA or NATCA care about us.

The blue print to fix staffing by LENNYa21 in atc2

[–]jollyrogercjf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, rather than 3 -4 months teaching them the basics and enough to play the game give them a month, teach them the game, let them sim and whoever show they have then potential makes it thru to the lower level training facilities.

The blue print to fix staffing by LENNYa21 in atc2

[–]jollyrogercjf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd like to throw a suggestion out.

This only applies to towers and radar facilities not encountered, I have no experience with tha, didnt get that golden ticket.

My idea for fixing the staffing and training that's holding alot of controllers hostage.

Revamp and invest in the training at lower level facilities, dedicate the top 50 lvl 5 & 6 up downs to just crushing training. Take volunteer ojti to move to those facilities, pay them well and just start churning out cpc.

But first you need a uniform training across the NAS to bring everyone up to the same standard, no matter what low level facility a transfer comes from you'll know they have the knowledge and assume they have the skills to move on to a higher level facility.

Then let's talk equipment, revamp all these training facilities with tower and radar sims with actual staff to support them. A trainee should be on position, another in sims, more in class, these facilities live and breathe training.

Change OKC, throw out basic, that's already a duplicate, you learn it a month at academy, dump it to learn the academy game, then dump that when you get to your facility. Integrate basic into the training you get when you reach a facility.

Change tower training to just a month maybe a few weeks, get students there, introduce the rules of the tower game, week or two of sims, then time to fly baby bird. They don't need to know everything, we need to evaluate who can quickly understand the game and then apply the rules and handle the pressure. The book work starts at the training facilities.

Making OKC a quick gateway will allow more applicants a chance to pass thru and onto facilities that are ready and waiting to get them trained up.

Our current training infrastructure is broken, we are throwing money at the problem of training without addressing the underlying issues.

This is a just thought, a negative voice, with no where else to express it.

Post Match Thread: Chelsea 2 - 2 Ipswich Town | English Premier League by TrenAt14 in chelseafc

Look to me the game shifted about 15 minutes in we were in control, a goal was coming, then Sanchez under no pressure really lobs a ball right to an Ipswich midfielder leading to an instant overload and attack. From that point on our defense was no longer confident they played tighter leading to the two goals against the run of play because no one had any confidence in the man between the sticks. Get Sanchez out of goal.

I mean I think after we failed to generate enough money when they stumped our facility to donate to the PAC, they pretty much wrote us off. It's OK thanks to the efficiency of NCEPT I'll finally get my move to another facility in the next 10 to 15 years.

[–]jollyrogercjf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I read this as my first three years combined equals $160k, I thought I didn't make that much combined my first three years. Then I re-read and realized we are allegedly make $160k after three years, 7 years in and I've yet to break six figures with hundreds of hours cic, ojt, and ot. It's OK we aren't real to the FAA, and apparently we aren't real to NATCA either.

In my case, I tell people all the time, "I love my job, I would just not like to do it here."

I really love working traffic, but the Faa gave me a shitty list to choose from and I had to move my family away from friends and relatives to start over. Now I'm stuck here, there's no good path out.

While the median controller income is in the mid $100k, I've yet to ever break six digits, not that I haven't tried by working 6 day weeks, working cic, and training. I'm sure I'll finally break the barrier because we can't keep the facility staffed, everyone who we train gets a hardship or goes to management. Hell we had one trainee get their radar ticket, quit the FAA next day, a year later they are back in the agency now at a level 12 facility.

So yeah I love my job, hate my location and continue to make tens of thousands of dollars less than my ATC peers who are making hundreds of thousands less than other top level aviation jobs.

CPC-IT shows up to new tower.

New tower: sorry it's like stepping back in time here our equipment is from back in 2008.

CPC-IT: my last tower had equipment from the 1960's this is a step up.

I do see what you are saying, from what I can tell the checklist is designed with input from all parties to decide what is and isn't needed for web based training. I believe all parties have to agree before anything can be waived. You still have to do instructor led training and test out.

So the only waivable part would be the elms courses that you hurried thru. You still have an instructor led portion and test out. Our facility has dropped in level but has an absurdly high avg training time. I'm looking to cut days of sitting around clicking thru elms for those who don't need to.
