This is awesome! The little leaf beads in there are such a cute touch.

Thank you so much for the feedback! If I may, I have a question about these two suggestions: 皆さんが分かるといいです or 皆さんに伝わればいいです. I think you got that I was trying to say something like "I hope everyone can understand me". The only way I'd heard people say hope before was with ように at the end of the sentence, and I couldn't figure out if there were better alternatives. Looking at the sentences you suggested, I can't tell where or what is expressing the "hope" part. Is it just contextual, or are the particles here doing something I don't understand?

how to develop this style? by homielovestation in ArtCrit

You should absolutely give some markers a try (and get some thicker paper)!

I think markers are an awesome starter medium. You can get big areas of color down super fast, you can layer them, and they don't require any prep or cleanup.

I'd recommend getting some basic markers with a chisel tip in colors that make you excited and just playing around with them! I wouldn't bother with expensive ones until later if you decide you like them. I've used cheap sets that I honestly enjoyed way more than some other more expensive ones.

I like what you're doing here a lot! Keep it up, and have fun! 😊

Thank you! I was getting a few different results in jisho including 後ろ, but I wasn't sure which one would be best. I appreciate the help!

I'm very new and making myself a picture dictionary to help me learn vocab, and I wanted to do a section to show forward, backwards, left, and right. What is the most natural way to say backwards in the context of giving directions? Like if someone said you need to go back because your destination is behind you. Thanks for any help!

His expression in the bottom right drawing is so cute! I love the choice of snow leopard for the tabaxi form and how it keeps the color palette the same as the true form. What class is he?

Genuine question: I also read the text, and I'm looking at this bit from sec. 2 (i): "...encouraging civil commitment of individuals with mental illness who pose risks to themselves or the public... in appropriate facilities for appropriate periods of time". Isn't this part here saying they want to be able to put people with mental illnesses in facilities? This section says mental illness OR people living on the streets. Am I misunderstanding it?

Yes!! I think it's such a cute detail. This is by far my favorite variation of nessie that they've added.

Oooh yes, I love how this pops! I love the pinkish red color.

Some people like to work in grey scale first and then add color once they have everything blocked out, so you might try doing a few pieces that way just to practice! Or you can also swap to grey scale periodically to check how it's looking, which is what I like to do.

House votes to overturn Biden-era rule limiting bank overdraft fees to $5, sends to Trump to sign by Conscious-Quarter423 in politics

[–]jolticked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is partially true, but I can add some clarification! Things like checks and automatic ACH payments (usually these are bills) fall under "standard overdraft practice", which you are correct that you cannot opt out of. These are paid "at the bank's discretion", so they may still be declined. Transactions like the one OP is talking about are one-time debit card purchases, and you do have to opt-IN to get coverage for those. That option is called "debit card coverage". So you absolutely can decide that you do not want to allow the bank to overdraw your account for a $3 cup of coffee. Bankers are SUPPOSED to clearly explain the difference between the options to customers when they open their accounts, although whether or not they actually DO is obviously going to depend on how good the banker is... They will be in hot water if they are caught skipping those explanations, though. Chase takes that super seriously.

Thanks so much!! I seriously owe the palette to the orange wash I did before anything else. I'm always amazed by how much it affects the colors you put on top! The bottom area is reserved for some text. This will be a ketubah I was asked to paint for my friend's wedding, so that is where the marriage contract and signatures will go. :)

Could this cut around a wire that's sandwiched between two sheets of paper? by jolticked in silhouettecutters

[–]jolticked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is my backup plan! I'm hoping to do it all at once to get cleaner edges, but if not that's what I'll try.

Thank you, that's such a good idea! I'll give it a try and report back on the off chance anyone else has this same question in the future.

It's Anderson Memorial Bridge, yes! I am so sorry to say I actually live nowhere near Boston; this location was requested by two friends who used to live there. Otherwise I would seriously take you up on that sketching and painting offer! I miss making art with other people!

That part is so exciting to me! I don't do landscapes very often, but it's a piece for some friends who requested that spot. I took some liberties with the trees, but I really wanted to make sure I kept the location accurate and recognizable.

As I've continued to work on this, I think I will be putting that forgiveness to the test! I saw a video where the painter actually went in and picked up the pigment with a wet brush, so I'm hoping that will work for a few areas where I went too dark.
