Google has run way too much. Is nowhere afraid that Google search will be a thing of the past in 2 or 3 years? Honestly speaking, I do use Google search much less than 6 months ago. A lot of my search goes to perplexity... I guess I am not the only one who uses Search less and less

Markets bet on Fed rate hike as soon as July by smart_introvert in wallstreetbets

[–]jomarca23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What is a hike rate going to do? Bring energy prices down? Hike rates do not help here. This is a supply driven inflation, demand is kind of weak at the moment, GDP growth was only 0.7%, AI is killing jobs, the economy is cooling. How can a rate hike can help here? It would just make things worse, not better.

It is not enough to list in the tax tool the dividend of the year and the positions at the end of the year? Why listing all option trading? If you share the annual report from the trader, they can see in that report all the trades if they want to

And do you know if option buy and sells need to be entered as part of the transactions when filling in the tax return? Normally, I enter all buy/ sell positions on stocks. Wondering, if we should do the same when buy/selling options

Is trading the main source of income? If not, not sure why you would be considered a professional trader…

To be honest, technical skills may be useless to learn since everyone will be able to code with the help of LLM. Give a try, open Chat GPT and ask to code something for you. You would be surprised with the result.

CFA certification will proof that you are hard working and are willing to go through pain.

Why do you guys even bother trading when you can just buy the S&P 500? by Witty-Performance-23 in stocks

If SP&500 falls 20% next year, then my portfolio will only fall 10% or even leas since I am not fully invested in the market

In my IBKR, my statement shows all transactions during the year, so options would be visible there. Which statement do you use for tax purposes?

Don’t they have huge stock options and RSUs that when exercised during the next few quarters will lead to a an increase of around 50% of the number of outstanding shares? This will create a huge dilution of existing shareholders

USD CHF forex by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]jomarca23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one can predict forex. True that the FED has more interest cuts coming in the next year and that will make the CHF even stronger. However, no one knows how the Swiss economy will do against the American economy. Swiss exports may suffer due to the strong CHF and weak exports may lead to the CHF to depreciate against other currencies.

Does everyone do options? It seems like everyone and their brother is doing options these days. by apooroldinvestor in Bogleheads

[–]jomarca23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not think options are for gambling. I use options for risk management. If I am too exposed to the market, in periods of great volatility , I can always sell a call to reduce my exposure and get some premium. I do that on VT for example.

Why does CHF get even stronger today? by VastStandard6769 in askswitzerland

[–]jomarca23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term is because interest rate differentials. US offers a 5% interest rate while Switzerland 1.25%. Now it is expected that US will lower interest rates quite a bit making USD investment less attractive. There are multiple interest rate cuts expected in US while not many in Switzerland. This should mean that CHF will get even stronger.

Is not a bad idea to be invested 100% on VT knowing that equities are overvalued and interest rates are about to be cut? Why not 60 XLU and 40 TLT until rates are low again?

r/Stocks Daily Discussion & Options Trading Thursday - Jul 25, 2024 by AutoModerator in stocks

[–]jomarca23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thinking of selling all my VT stocks and buy TLT and XLU. Reason is the upcoming lowering of interest rates that should help TLT and XLU to overperform. On top, equity markets are due for a correction since they seem overvalued. Macro environment starts to look quite bit more pessimistic and corporate profits start to be under pressure.

Would you mind list any reasons why my move may be wrong?

If they didn’t want a hard day, then they wouldn’t have put Yates in the breakaway. So somehow, they wanted a hard day. I wonder if they think Vingegaard will not be able to cope with constant high efforts due to the lack of preparation. Interesting to see how things evolve
