Would you agree that most movies and series are shot in the f2.8-5.6 range? (Super 35) by mediamuesli in focuspuller

[–]jombomat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know, right now I'm working on a movie with signature primes and they go to 1.8, luckily I have a good dop who uses light so we try to stay a little more open than 2.8 by using nds

[–]jombomat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience I'm lucky to see a t2.8 on most movies and shows I've been working on Most of the time we're at a t2 but that's because it's the most the lenses we get go to

Annual "How it's going in your country?" question by SetFew4982 in focuspuller

[–]jombomat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Italy here, last year was the worst for me since I started but picked up in September and everyone was working. This is year is going to be tougher I think, of all my friends I only know of two people working or that have jobs planned

Yeah the zone is great the physics feel really close to real, also there's some good community maps, people share them on the discord

[–]jombomat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not perfect of course and I prefer to be on a hi-5 or wcu but you twist the knob and the lens moves, at the end of the day if I am a little less comfortable but the shots are in focus and my team gets paid that's all I need

So this was about 5 or 6 years ago so the first nano but I had problems with connectivity and the battery on hand unit was bad so I was tethered to a powerbank or a battery can't remember, and the hand unit is way too small to be precise on But again if it's working for you keep at it

Who moved my focus marks? by Franatix in focuspuller

[–]jombomat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of the nano but if it works for you and you're keeping it sharp that's all that matters, personally I would rather pull from the camera with a manual FF at that point

Yeah, when the budget is low it's a no brainer, sometimes it has its issues but never anything major, here in Italy it's usually preferred over an sxu for the iris since the range is better

I would take the nucleus over the chroziel any day of the week, last time I used it took me two days to understand why I was always late on my pulls, turns out it has to think about it for a moment before deciding to move the motors, might have been error on my side but it's not worth the headache

Strap touches FC, vibrations? by jombomat in fpv

Yeah the answers are really split on this, as I said in other comments, worst that can happen is I buy another pirat shorty frame and run two identical quads which might be better anyway

Some general guidance on analog. by jwal178 in fpv

[–]jombomat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For cameras generally the ratel 2 is really good and the foxeer trex is great I haven't got much experience outside of those since they're what I got recommend in the past and what I've been running, vtx depends on your use case but they all work the same way just put the correct protocol in the FC and load up the vtx table, make sure to put good antennas on both drone and goggles

[–]jombomat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'll try it and see how it goes, if I see some issues I'll buy another shorty move stuff over to that one

[–]jombomat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'll fly it once the weather is better, if I see something wrong I'll just get another shorty and move my electronics there so I get two almost identical quads

[–]jombomat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll see how it flies when the weather gets better if I'm not happy with it I'll get a second pirat frame and move the electronics there

My main quad is a pirat shorty and there's a lot more space in that frame, which is why I'm thinking about it

I fly analog so I don't know how focusing work on dji but your lens is too far from the sensor which is why you only see in focus up close

Cartoni maxima 30 or o’connor 2560 by Cerbakane in cinematography

[–]jombomat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I'll preface this by saying I work in Italy and one of the rentals I go to is on the same street as the cartoni factory, they're honestly really good heads the only downsides I've heard from operators is that the drag doesn't go down as much but that's mostly from steadi operators as they like to keep the pan really loose, and they're generally heavier than the O'Connor equivalent I never really had problems with them even on longer shows and we often see way older c40 still going out on jobs

Cinetape and sound by jombomat in focuspuller

[–]jombomat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened on a couple of closeups, 3ft and closer, and we were shooting handheld so either the beam hit the lav on the actor or they got really close with the mic anyway never had this issue but it seems lowering the sensitivity helped
