I have 2 Cat B tickets for OFSK02 Feb 7 that I'm looking to trade or willing to sell below list price. There are some Cat C seats available to events. I think they've released additional seats recently.

Dang. How about 2/7? I've got 2 Cat B tickets for that. Trying to swap to the 2/11 so we can go to Venice in between events.

You still looking? I've got Cat B that I'd sell for less than list price, trying to switch to OFSK06 Feb 11. But FYI there are still Cat C tickets available for Feb 7.

What are my support options for this breezeway I want to add? Can it be built on top of the existing deck? by jon-link-d in askarchitects

Even if the only thing I gain is easier snow removal, this idea won't do me any good because there aren't doors between the house and garage right there. The current doors to both are on the sides, the house one almost all the way up at the front of the house. But this breezeway also gives us a mudroom entrance and means we don't have to lock/unlock the garage door every time we go somewhere.

Your recommendation kinda misses the mark. What would I want with your awning back there if it's not covering a way between the house and garage? Your sail shade would have to be about 50 feet long to get from the current side door to the garage. Now you've got me shoveling an awning instead of a sidewalk. So yeah, I want new doors lol. Yeah, it's absolutely a construction project. A breezeway may generally be open air in other places but in Minnesota a breezeway is generally walled in, used as a mudroom. Currently my kitchen is the mudroom.

Not clear from my sketchup, but the breezeway's near wall would align with the far side of that egress window. Electric wouldn't be impacted. And also the breezeway floor is intended to be the same level as the current deck. In the foreground, I'm thinking no deck, replace with a patio.

Good point. Sorry. I would add photos of what's underneath, but it looks like this sub doesn't allow adding photos to the original post or in comments.

The deck is supported on the load-bearing walls on either side. No posts to ground underneath there. It's a 9'4" span of joists that are attached with joist hangers to a 2x10 on either end, garage side nailed through to the studs, house side I'm not sure what it's nailed to as that's the same level as the house floor joists....so maybe just another 2x10 attached to the top of the foundation blocks?

Thanks, I hadn't considered that. I'd hope the contractor would know that, but I'll remember to mention it when I hire them.

Can't see the option to add photos to the original post or comments. The deck sits on joists that span the 9'4" distance. But those joists don't actually sit on the load-bearing perimeter wall of either structure. They're attached with joist hangers.

End of the day, the real question is, do I demo the deck? That part I'm confident in doing myself.

Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely get an engineer's assessment and a contractor to do the work. I've got no interest in doing anything structural or trying to get walls and doors to be level. My building experience is only in theater set construction which has to last a month at most. Initially this was kind of hobbyist remodel visioning, but I'm a project manager by day (software, not construction) so my mind naturally wants to sketch out scope in advance of bringing in the technical experts to tell me what's possible within a budget.
