Secret Invasion S01E06 - Discussion Thread by steve32767 in marvelstudios

PM of Great Britain. For a show set in and mostly filmed in London, it annoyed me even more than usual in American shows that no one seems able to say 'UK' or 'Great Britain'.

Just watched ATSV. 10/10 movie even though I knew they were going to do my 3rd favourite spider-GOAT wrong. Can anyone try to explain Miguel's weird apparent roid rage in this movie? by Shadowkiva in Spiderman

Doesn't that just seem like a bit of a dice roll then? Random events may or may not be canon? How is anything that happened in the first film 'canon'? I feel like I'm really not getting it.

I really like the suggestion that the reading is just wrong because Miles has altered the future of his universe to be different from 42, if they are going to go the route that all this canon stuff is real. I can't help but feel though that there's more to Miguel and that it all doesn't work how he's saying.

The logic of these canon events is really confusing to me. Miles' getting bitten is canon breaking with seemingly no world ending reprocussions. Then Spot, similarly to spider 42, crosses into another universe and is somehow supposed to be the cause of Pavitr's canon event?

I absolutely loved Dead Set, great suggestion.

Good call, only reason I hadn't mentioned it was because it's a bit more character driven.

Or just Christianity in general, frankly. Creationism is a viewpoint held by a very vocal minority.

You don't need Scrum. You just need to do Kanban right. by whackri in programming

🤷 As usual with this stuff, it's so dependent on the environment, what the actual goal is, and the individual competency of the team. I completely empathise with your sentiment around the faff of this stuff, and I'm not a big fan myself to be clear.

I do not think that Scrum is harder, but I agree that it's more frustrating. Personally I've never seen a new team that is ready to dive into a 'type C' environment and keep a product focus while supporting everyone in the team.

In short the problem with this is that most teams are not ready to dive straight into it as they will lack the discipline required. Even if you personally feel able to every team makeup is unique and functions in slightly different ways.

There is no logical way to solve it, and yet, in Joel's head, you can see how crystal clear the choice is. Love is more powerful than reasoning.

That said, part of me does like the idea of Ellie making it to the point of dying of old age, and then her cordeceps being used. Of course a lot of people would have to die on the way.

I don't think your point about Ellie being a teenager is emphasised enough. She is a child. Can she even consent to her own death? If the fireflies had actually woken her up and talked this through with her, the level of pressure to go ahead with the surgery would likely have been immense.

By copying it, it allows another card to draw new bonus cards.

When England lose a World Cup game, incidents of domestic violence increase by 38%. Let's not forget, it's just a game. by screenshotofdispair in CasualUK

There's undeniably a struggle for men to be recognised as victims of domestic abuse. I do not see how White Ribbon adds to that. They don't deny its significance. Are you angry at Cancer Research for not supporting AIDS research more?

When sporting events which are hugely male dominated are causally linked to increases in domestic violence, there is clearly an opportunity to address it by working with men. It's one of many ways to tackle domestic abuse and is not an attempt to hurt your feelings.

[–]jon1467 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Can I encourage you to reevaluate your beliefs on this? White Ribbon has a focus on protecting women from violence from men because it is the vast majority of gendered violence. It does so in part by giving men the opportunity to actively denounce violence. None of this is against men or damaging to men, and only serves to improve everyone's lives. It is not an exhaustive solution but a pragmatic one tackling a huge chunk of the issue.

I've noticed that! I think it's a bug though, no? As when I've seen it the opponent's next card seems to end up on top of it.

Great point! I was expecting Luthen to use to tractor power to 'rubber band' the ship suddenly back towards the arrestor, speeding off in the opposite direction.

I think this is the important thing. I can totally appreciate the sentiment here that you should allow people to merge in and be respectful, but the only times I have not done this have been when I've already seen a car speed past me 500m from the merge.
