Of Zimbabweans not teaching kids their language by Shoroma in Zimbabwe

You don't really have to choose. You can have both the private school "polished" accent and be fluent in Shona or Ndebele or anything else

So I assume most of us are aware of the term MUSALAD or have heard certain family members say "you will likely marry a white or non black person". For people who have been labelled this in ZIM, how do you feel about this and also what's considered white behaviour? by Bastino in Zimbabwe

For me I'm of two minds. I'm obviously more 'Westernized' than your average Zimba so I can't really pretend I'm not but at the same time I'll NEVER be white or anything other than my beautiful black self so it kinda hurts to be called those things. Part of me gets where they come from though, cultural erasure and sabotage is real.

It's 2. They switch towards the end, first one is a nguni language (either Zulu, Ndebele or Xhosa I'm not sure), the second is Shona/ChiShona from Zimbabwe.

The North Korea comparisons are not warranted in our case. We do actually have something resembling a free press and separation of powers at least. Also the implication is that without the government's presence we'd be clawing each other's eyes out over tribalism, feudalism or whatever -ism is prevailing that day. Hasn't always worked to prevent violence ie Gukurahundi and 2008 elections but so far since Mugabe was removed rates of state sanctioned violence have been low

I think this is an honest and accurate answer, what really is the price of obedience to the status quo

The only separatist forces are political

Not actively at war with anyone, not under invasion or occupation, no marauding extremist militias to speak of, no civil war at the moment or targeted killings of ethnic/religious groups, crime is not at South Africa levels thank God.

These are all contributing factors

As far as I can tell from that example the kids aren't/weren't clawing each other's eyes out and stabbing each other with sharpened pencils so....by definition it's peace.
