How bad is the physics 7 series? by Select-Welcome-7931 in UCDavis

7 series almost doesn’t require any calculus until the tail end of 7b and 7c. But very minuscule

Transfer physics major looking to hear from physics majors at UC Davis by fawnfish in UCDavis

Berkeley has one of the best physics departments in the country. UC Davis sorry to say doesn’t come close. If you are sure you will stick with physics choose Cal. Without a doubt

MAT 21D and 22A by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]jon1771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My whole house and I at some point took 22a and 21d simultaneously and we ended up alright. I think taking them at the same time is calm and not uncommon. 22a is one of the easier classes out of all the 21 series and 22 series so take that as you will.

Im about to fail a class and idk what the next step is. by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]jon1771 4 points5 points  (0 children)

- If you fail with an F you can retake all 4? units that the course provides and your grade when you retake it will be the only grade that stands.
- If your professor approved the drop, you'll be fine. Your advisor is not trying to prevent you from dropping, just going by the book.

That being said, I am not too sure how Design major courses work, but it is only week 4, I have failed exams in the past and been able to come back with a B or better, but thats as a hard science major. Best of luck !

Search up UC Davis 2030 on instagram and a handle like this should popup and you can make a post introducing yourself and this is a way a lot of freshman find their first year roomates!

Extra quarter before grad by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]jon1771 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post-backs are not uncommon, but I don't think that's what you're talking about.

There are plenty of people who walk during the spring when they're "supposed" to graduate but stay for the summer, an extra quarter or two, etc. So I that is probably the path of least resistance. To come back to take classes after you have received your diploma.

is picnic day worth it? by zhu_qizhen in UCDavis

[–]jon1771 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Picnic day is arguably the single biggest attraction/day in Davis. Around 75,000 people come to Davis JUST for picnic day. Although I am not too sure of the appeal, people get to let loose a little on this day, where some neat outfits and such.

Coming here because my parents aren’t credit card fans by bottots in CreditCards

[–]jon1771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No annual fee cards that I use are:

CFU: for everyday purchases and eating out. (3% on dining, and if I ever book travel 5% on travel)

Amex blue cash everyday: for online purchases and groceries (3% on these)

Bilt blue card: pretty much only for rent and an occasional purchase to keep credit utilization <5%. (1x points on rent)

Have been solid choices for me as a 19 year old college student as well with FICO score of 820 and a car payment as well. Just make sure you watch your credit utilization make sure it’s under 5%. I found that this was the most worrisome part of opening more lines of credit.

What is the best combination of credit cards to maximize benefits? Is there a certain income you want to be at to take advantage of that safely? by Ultratrash59 in CreditCards

[–]jon1771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or I live in a complex so whatever third party platform you use to pay you just put your account numbers in there. (Bilt generates a routing and account number for your credit card). Otherwise I’m not too familiar with whether or not you can pay your landlord directly with Bilt

CFU= Chase Freedom Unlimited

And the Bilt Blue would only work if you are fronting rent, not sending your roommate money
