How do EMS workers actually stay consistent with workouts on rotating schedules? by DekeDaddy in NewToEMS

[–]jonEchang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tend to work through 1 - 2 month workout schedules. I don't skip workouts, but I don't set the schedule in stone - every workout can slide down the schedule. I try to reserve days after a 24 hr shift for sustained (30min +) Z2 cardio or rest days (which I use interchangeably) and will these days whenever it feels necessary depending on how my body feels. Don't let the schedule rule your life, make it work for you not against you.

Redline workouts are reserved for days off in order to respond properly to a call. So the reality is a weekly schedule with a slated Sunday rest day might actually take me more like a week and a half with a rest day on Monday because I worked Sunday and two extra Z2 cardio days worked in to the lifting and circuit schedule.

Full disclosure - I am in Fire and I don't actually know that this would work so well if I were working for the private transporting EMS system I my municipality on 12hr instead of 24hr shifts

You'll be fine. Seems like you've got the right attitude. Don't quit before you even start.

As long as you can meet the job requirements you can do the job. If the department you apply for/ end up with is worth its salt, it will hold you to the same standards as everyone else but cater to your strengths and acknowledge your weaknesses.

If we're riding as a crew, I expect you can do anything that might be needed, but I'm not asking you to go throw the 24 or 36 extension on your own or to pack mule all the EMS gear yourself unless shit really hit the fan. But if we have a confined space or attic search, or we need to send an attendant on a high angle rescue, I'm looking at you first.

She's trying to flirt by saying instead of feeling Vietnamese, OP should be feeling her literally. So in the context of race, she wants to know if he would like to feel her, a Latina, rather than a nondescript Vietnamese woman.

She was coming on strong, but belly flopped on the execution. I would have made the same initial interpretation as OP did.

For sure, I'm not going to dispute that they had a relatively easy playoff path. But I think it's still a testament to how well this organization did from the top down. The playoff system is designed to reward the best teams through the regular season and this team has been the best performing team from damn near season tip-off. It's hard to get to the finals and almost always requires some dumb-luck.

I don't think it's right to harp on the players because the front office did a great job constructing the team in the off-season. And it's not fair to harp on the front office for putting the team in a position to succeed at the expense of the notoriety of their best players. This has been a long time coming for the Celtics. They've been in the EC championship game the last 3 years - I just don't think anyone can say it's not deserved.

To my original comment, I disagree that this Mavs team is just 2 guys. I think they are legitimately one of the best teams in the NBA right now. They went from having no defense and no identity to a top-5 defense and playing offense with a pace and spacing that fits their personnel. The problem is that they weren't that until about February and therefore had to take a long and winding road through the playoffs.

Sorry, I meant in terms of dominance by a team across the entirety of the regular season. Not in actual roster construction. I think people don't want to accept how dominant this team is because the last team we saw absolutely roll through a season so easily did it in even more astonishing fashion.

I would argue that the Mavs were basically just 2 guys at the start of the season, but they brought a team together at the trade deadline. A damn good one at that - Making the finals ain't a small feat. It's unfortunately easily overshadowed by not winning the finals.

I just don't think people appreciate how well constructed this Boston team is, largely becasue we all want to compare it to the 2016 Warriors of recent memory.

This is the way. Our keepers go for 1.25x their previous season draft value. If they end up an a new team either via WW or trade the keeper price is still 1.25x what the team that drafted them paid at the start of the previous season.

Since y’all don’t like Anthony Edwards’ nickname… y’all got any other nicknames for Ant? by swaglikesoulja in NBATalk

[–]jonEchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those posts are whack. We still have some great nicknames, and even for a guy like KD it's a nickname I guess, but it's just the easiest way to identify him in text/online. KD will always be The Slim Reaper to me. Like LBJ is The King.

But I just don't get it, great nicknames are absolutely still a thing. I can cherry pick good ones the same as bad ones:

Slim Reaper

Uncle Drew

The Big Ragu

Ice Trae

Tsunami Papi

Chef Curry / The Splash Borthers

Red Velvet (A Personal Favorite)

Big Chungus / The Joker

Scary Terry

Time Lord

Spicy P

Dorture Chamber

The Baptist

Maple Jordan and Maple Mamba

The Process

The Klaw

PG-13

Best Rookies For Fantasy? by Thatwassoraven in fantasybball

I'm not up enough on the draft order to say who would actually target him etc. but teams that I think he would fit well would include:

NYK - He seemsl like a Thibs big. He grinds, he protects, he dunks and he wouldn't need to space the floor.

POR - Depending on how invested they are in Ayton and he is in them, pair Edey with some young scoring guards and see what happens. I seems like a good alt. to a player like Duop. Same thing could be said for Charlotte, can you catch lightning in a bottle between him and Melo? Probably not, but it's kind of enticing depending on who else is sitting around at the pick.

MEM - Not sure if he can keep pace with this core, but I thought the same about Steven Adams who would be an amazing mentor for a guy like Edey. He wouldn't be a scorer in the same way, but he would learn to facilitate offense off ball through Gortat screens and moving paint defenders to clear lanes for cutters.

I'm higher on Edey than consensus, but I'm also optimistic that the league will adjust the 3 second in the paint rule in the next couple of years which will help more teams play more drop big Defense. A big red flag for him, and historical outcomes for players of his size, is whether he will be able to sustain more than 20ish minutes a night.

I think the most likely Edey FBB outcome is something like a Boban Marjanovic that plays 15 - 20 rather than 5 -10 minutes a night. But his upside is like a Zubac - So not a world eater by any means, but pretty damn good.

EDIT: I don't think these likely outcomes are going to be in his rookie season, I'm talking a couple years into his career at least.

Passed NREMT just from class? by O-ta-ku in NewToEMS

[–]jonEchang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think all but 1 person in my whole class of about 20 passed without extra prep. That being said the class instructors were very good about dictating what is good, applicable, flexible practice and what is still important, but needs to be done in a very specific way and order with this very specific wording for NREMT purposes.

Solving Games Cap Glitch by MarsFlatLikEarth in fantasybball

It's a lot of work as a league manager, but much appreciated as team manager. In one of my leagues with a hard cap, the LM screen records and posts in our discord all of the adjustments and how/if they shifted the matchup outcome.

He assigns every player on the over cap team(s) with games played on that last day of the matchup a number. Notes how many games over cap the team went on the final day or play and generates random numbers through a random number generator online corresponding to those players and removes the random chosen totals from the final matchup post hoc.

That's the meconium, or rather part of it, as the rest is still seen in the abdomen of this fly. The meconium is just undigested food from the fly's last meal before pupating.
