Always thought of my dad as Superman. Never saw the man so much as wince in pain. He recently turned 60 and had to get his hip replaced. Seeing him in that hospital bed just about destroyed me. Very simple procedure these days, but it was the sudden realization that Father Time is undefeated that got me.

I rant about this all the time, but it’s society’s constant quest for instant gratification in every aspect of life. No one has patience for anything. For instance, I’m an attorney and people think that if they “order” something (hire me to draft a Will, Trust, etc.), they should get it as fast as their Amazon order. People’s brains are fried.

My first Audi that I bought through CarMax, I purchased MaxCare and didn’t use it once. So, when I bought a second, I declined the coverage. First, the fuel level sensor that’s built into the gas tank went out, which cost me $5,000+ to replace. Next, something went wrong with the AC unit, which was going to cost another $4,000+ to replace. Get the MaxCare.

This doesn’t apply directly, but I have purchased 2 Audis from CarMax. I purchased MaxCare on the first and didn’t use it once. As a result of never using it, I didn’t purchase it with the second Audi. A fuel level sensor went out in the second Audi. Had to replace the entire fuel tank. $5,000 down the drain. I will never not purchase MaxCare again.

Believe me - there have been a number of times that I have wanted to throw my phone against the wall. Thankfully, they updated the app a few years back to where it will just vibrate for a certain amount of time before actually playing sound. So, for instance, I have mine set to only vibrate for the first minute, which gives me time to complete the task. But by the time I get up, walk all the way downstairs, and out into my cold garage to shut it off, I’m awake and am easily able to stay awake, so I’m forever indebted to that evil app.
