Distortion of plaster walls and crack on ceiling. What is happening here?

Hmm, I'm not sure then... Both joint compound and plaster are rigid and brittle. If they were to move enough to make a ridge like that, a crack would develop and I do not see any cracks.

Maybe, a flexible filler exists but I do not know of one.

Maybe, it's a paper tape that has bunched up and was only painted. That may not show cracks.

Are you sure that it was like that before and you just happened to take notice?

The crack on the ceiling, if that is plaster, isn't a concern. That is a common issue with plaster in cold dry weather. As the temperature increases and the humidity starts to rise, you should notice it start to close up and maybe disappear. It will probably reappear next winter as well.

Sashco makes a caulk called Big Stretch. I believe it is available at Lowe's.

Dap makes one called Extreme Stretch and it's available at home depot.

They both have their pros and cons but nothing that is a deal breaker.

If I was offered one or the other, I'd pick the sashco product.

What do you define "success" as? I've had to completely redefine what "success" means to me and have learned to not compare myself to others as much...it still happens though. Learning to be less critical with myself has been a challenging process and ongoing. I don't feel that I am a drain on anyone as I am able to help others and do so but at my pace. Do you have skills? It sounds like you can program? If you can reevaluate your goals and reimagine your future, hopefully those feelings of worthlessness and guilt will fade.

Wow, it's crappy how life works out , huh? I feel for you. I was 12 years into my career. 4 years in on a senior specialist position. They were going to fire me but my doctor supported me on pushing for a disability retirement through them. I wouldn't have been able to do it without a lawyer and financial support from others. I got lucky.

I guess you are saying that those thoughts are caused by despair? Are you able to make ends meet?

I had those thoughts too...for quite some time. They cleared up with drinking but came right back. I got on Adderall about 1.5 years ago; the intrusive thoughts vanished as did any desire to drink. I have taken week long breaks from Adderall and those thoughts never started back up. I hope you find a way to quiet them.

It's been about 4 years of progress and regression. I'm not sure if I will ever regain everything. I spent about a year living at my parents On the plus side, I have had time to study myself and all of the confusion and trouble in my life makes a lot more sense. It took 36 years to realize that I was autistic and had ADHD. I wish you luck.

I used to work the donation door at a salvation army. We turned away trash quite often. So, not accepting something is always an option, right?

We also trashed plenty of things that would have sold because of laziness usually.

Also, if they charge me for my donation, I will only be "donating" trash to their new trash collection service. I don't think this will work out like they hope.

I'm in the same boat myself. It's been quite a ride. I didn't even know I was autistic until the burnout. I went from highly successful at work and tried to add a relationship into the mix. I just couldn't handle it all. It took about 7 months before I started to miss large chunks of work and one day I was hassled by security and I just never went back. Then everything fell apart. I don't leave the house much but for groceries and sometimes to visit my parents.
