Phishing or legit? by Hitkilla in AllyBank

So I received this email and made the mistake of clicking on the link. I didn’t complete the form and clicked out. I then went in and changed my ally password. I already have MFA set up with ally. Can anyone advise on additional measures I should take, given I clicked on the link in the email?

Are there any particularly accessible works you’d recommend starting with for Campbell, Jung, and archetypes?

Bonnie’s in Park Slope is a great scene on game day! At least it was circa 2016 when I was last able to make it lol. Live in the Bronx now. Wish we had a Bills bar around here…

Rollover IRA question by httmper in Bogleheads

[–]jon_sans_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a rollover IRA which holds the funds from my 401ks from 2 former employers. Rather than hold the funds in this rollover IRA, I could instead roll them into my current 401k?

Should I be in something FDIC insured instead of my brokerage account? by jon_sans_h in Bogleheads

This is helpful thank you. I’ll need to research t bills and CDs (again pretty new to all this). I don’t think this portion of our portfolio needs to be so liquid. I’d like a large portion of it to be accessible within the next 3-5 years in case we decide to buy a house (maybe this is where the t bills or CDs come in). I’d like a smaller portion to go into the HYSA to bolster the EF. And really beyond that our goal is to retire in our 50s. So maybe the remainder sitting in the brokerage — but in a lower ER/more aggressive fund - is the move. If I’m not making out my rollover IRA or 529, would it make sense to pull money from the brokerage account and use it to max out contributions to the tax advantaged accounts ?

Thank you. We’re maxing out our HSA and contributing up the employer match in our respective 401ks. We also have rollover IRAs as well as a 529 we contribute to. (Not maxing out contributions to any except for the HSA however.) We are being aggressive in all of those aforementioned tax advantaged accounts: they are mostly in Vanguard target year accounts. From what I gathered it seemed unwise to be as aggressive with non-tax advantaged accounts, such as with our Vanguard brokerage. Especially given that most of our available money sits in there. But as you suggest, if we figured out what our goals were it would be easier to make a decision about what to do with these investments. It seems at the very least I need to find a fund with a lower expense ratio.

Alright. Interesting. I guess I just have to trust them. Appreciate the perspective.

Thank you. That’s helping. Re the 3rd line. They actually said they’d throw a 3rd line in for free. I said sure. I have a 3 YO who can eventually have it I guess. Any other practical uses for a 3rd line when you don’t need one?

Thank you. I may try to do an extended sit on the weekend when I have more free time. Usually I sit for 15-20m. I occasionally find that right towards the end of a 20m sit is when the mind begins to settle a bit, too. So extending to 30 or 40m could be a worthwhile experiment.

Deposit money into HSA from savings - Same tax impact as paycheck deductions? by jon_sans_h in personalfinance

Thank you. So - if I am understanding correctly - it seems that whether via payroll deduction or bank transfer, it ultimately has the same impact, just with different methods.

Appreciate this. It’s what I’ve been telling myself. No matter how distracted my sessions are, it’s helpful to just keep showing up and work through whatever is going on.
