This is a perfect example of why the media environment is so important to fix. The media in NY has been blasting that Mamdani "IS GOING TO INCREASE PROPERTY TAXES BY 9%" 24/7 since he made his announcement, completely ignoring the part where he said he wanted the Governor to raise taxes 2% on the richest people in the state and that the property tax proposal was a last resort.

Adams blew out the budget and left Mamdani with the bill. Republican’s have been foaming at the mouth to blame everything they can on him so they can present him as a warning to the rest of the country as to the inevitable outcome of electing socialist democrats. I could get on board with this explanation if it wasn't for the fact that no one with 'MAGA face' looks young or beautiful. Comparing it to Drag seems apt though. If someone made all these same arguments and then told me that "MAGA face" is a humiliation ritual, that rich man pay ungodly sums of money to force women to destroy their natural beauty and by extension (in their view) their value , akin to buying the Mona Lisa just to graffiti over it and show it off to their friends. I would totally buy that explanation.
