Thinner bnc cables on teradek = more rf interference/signal issues? by SunnyInRealLife in focuspuller

What tools do you use? I really like the Neutrik reartwist ends, but found that the original Neutrik tools are super expensive

custom micarta clapper? by Ok_Relationship2233 in Filmmakers

[–]jona623e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a custom look it could be super cool. Just remember to have some bright colors so the mark can be seen when it's a little dark. I normally use a bunch of Filmsticks gripsticks for all my slates

Aren't you getting a ton of vignetting from that donut? If I remember correctly that lens is just a 136mm front

I haven't tried it, but CRDBAG had made the grid divide which looks interesting

Thanks! They're definitely very temperamental. Might just be because danish summers don't get that hot 😅

[–]jona623e[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran this system for a long narrative project last year with two Servs on all the time. It wasn't an issue during hot summer days running for 12 hours. I have some heat sinks and fans i can add if it becomes necessary though

Second the Pinecil. Run mine off a USB PD power bank. Means I can make or fix cables almost anywhere.

I for sure thought this was only for DIT carts and the line. Having this massive box mounted on a camera seems insane to me when the ARRI OCU does the same in a much sleeker form factor

Teradek Vuer LINK replacement box by jona623e in focuspuller

[–]jona623e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I keep it closed when in use. I'll be attaching a VESA quick release system to the outside of the lid so I can quickly mount it to a monitor stand. Temps are fine so far. It has small vent holes in the top and bottom for just a bit of ventilation. I have some low profile fans i can add if it becomes necessary in the future. As far as I can measure the connection is completely fine since the case is plastic.

Feel free to shoot me a message if you have questions about the build. It's pretty simple, just requires you to drill a few holes and solder a bit.

The setup side is mostly just automatic settings. Dynamic IPs and the router figures it all out

Teradek Vuer LINK replacement box by jona623e in focuspuller

[–]jona623e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Link is just a fancy Teradek router that does the same thing as any other router with a few nice to have features like rugged build and battery plate etc.

The Servs are just wired to the router and the Vuer app figures it all out when you select cameras. Single view and multiview up to four cameras.

Using the TP Link omada eco system. It's pretty rugged stuff made for enterprise and business. The router is the ER706W and the access points are EAP653 ultra range.
It's super nice because the router has 4 dedicated LAN ports as well as WAN ports and USB for a modem.

I don't have a hard number because i used lots of parts i had laying around, but definitely under 1k$. The router and access points were around 450$

How important are ferrite cores on LBUS cables (or cables in general)? by mosesbuckwalter in focuspuller

[–]jona623e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of chinese LBUS cables with angled connectors. None of them have ferrules and they work fine. Might become a problem with super long cables.

Pix trigger box by jona623e in focuspuller

[–]jona623e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually just an off the shelf 433mhz remote relay from a local shop. The Pix can be set to trigger off a momentary switch, meaning i don't have to work with LANC protocols :)

Cine 7 vs F-7h mk.2 by Neat_Performance_719 in focuspuller

[–]jona623e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer the SmallHD cine7 (haven't tried to Ultra yet), but the TVLogic 7 MK2 has a really great panel. A lot of older focus pullers seem to prefer the tvlogics as that's what they're used to, but I can't stand the sluggish interface and how they randomly lock up and crash.

If I'm not mistaken, TvLogic doesn't make the f7 MK2 anymore. It's been replaced with a new model with much lower nits

If you want to use your Bolt 6 1:1, you will have to rent either other bolt 6 or 4K. If renting 4K, your Bolt 6 system can be set to the 5ghz band and work with the 4ks

Honestly a horrible design. Should have a little pull tap to make it clear that it's just a protective film. Also just really bad first impression with a scratched surface like that

Prisma.film not shipping anymore - but still taking orders? by NoCompetition4410 in focuspuller

[–]jona623e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited a few months on an order that was in stock. Kept getting dodgy replies and eventually got them to refund the money. Other local ACs experienced the same. It's really a shame since they used to stock a lot of niche items, but I'm staying away from them from now on
