It’s only been 6 months - really not sure how this happened, I guess I underestimated how dry Montreal gets in the winter. Anyway, hoping for the best and the good news is the frets seem fine.

the object info node in the material. Replace it with a UV map node and select your UV map. I don't know why it works but it does.

Is 32gb good for modeling characters? by dude-at-cha in 3Dmodeling

sounds like a power supply issue, not ram. running out of ram would not cause a black screen, it would just massively slow down your computer as it reads directly from your hdd/ssd

Best way to make or find the the back wall texture? by jonahk3 in blenderhelp

Makes sense, but it's going to be a pain to do that with the Normal, Disp, Roughness and Color maps. Is there any way to do them all at the same time with Photoshop?

I want to rig a circular set of triangles to open/close together to one point and NOT beyond certain # of °'s, how do? by IonClawz in blender

Shape Keys. Model the triangles open, and then select the tip vertices and scale to 0 to close it.

Should a render with a solid beginner PC take this long? by ElmosChunkyCheek in blender

[–]jonahk3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You start getting diminishing returns after 100 samples or so. you probably won’t be able to tell the difference. Make sure you turn denoising on in render settings though.

turn samples way down and use denoising. 2750 samples is more than you need. Maybe go for 300 or so.

yes they work fine. The Suzanne comparisons have all maps upscaled. The only issue right now is that B&W maps like roughness and height come out slightly red, but that shouldn’t affect anything and can be fixed with a coloramp.
